it may not be "that expensive," but i am pretty sure that it is more expensive than would be intelligent, considering the financial budget of zero. i am willing to shell out some for champagne and other "classy" food items, but i don't have the financial ability for anything beyond that. unless there is a charge, but that seems to be a little pompous. one idea i have had, though have not yet spoken to those involved about (yet), is a joint common firing order/just a glimpse premiere event. i will email colin today about that one, so don't mention it. the projector comment is a valid one too.
I'd love to see the premiere! As for places, I'd pay to see that premiere, get enough people to contribute and it might pay for itself to go with a conference room (I'd pay up to $20 if it included some food and drink, get 20+ people like that and you can put on a fun show). Alternatively some university rooms have snazzle lcd projectors, if you know a professor that might be willing to help you out.
thanks for the suggestions. we'll see. i don't know about a premier for a 9.5 minute movie. do you think that'd be weird? it seems like the only point of the whole exercise would just be to feed my ego. it just seems pompous, and makes me uncomfortable. do you understand? this thing goes beyond this issue though. it's like i want attention but don't want to want attention. aah. am i crazy?
well you spent work on a thing, and should be proud of it, but if one is shy about their work (I know I can be sometimes to some people) then it only makes sense to feel uncomfortable... I don't think that's crazy. It'd probably be fun to make an event of it too - let everyone know it's just for the fun of it (and not because you have this fantastic movie that they just have to see... which may or may not be how you feel about it)

We could even probably yoink the projector from the Church and have a reasonable way to show it.
Of course, then I'd have to go buy a black tie.
Meanwhile, Oscar Wilde's last words? "Either the wallpaper goes or I do."
Having both read Earnest and seen it performed, I've gotta say: I like that guy.
