And everyone in this book is just that stupid. Like, they are too stupid to watch American sitcoms and get all the jokes.

So. Remember the hilarious scene in Cheaper by the Dozen where Steve Martin has all his football players over at the house because he has no child care for his litter of children, and of course the children are homicidal maniacs ( Read more... )

There is so much wrong with that last sentence I don't know where to begin. So I'll just say this: "Proverbial." What???? A) Is there some sort of proverb about hearts that curl up into balls? B) Lady, thank god you said her "proverbial" heart, I almost thought you meant her real, actual, beating, blood-filled organ in the middle of her chest somehow twisted itself into a ball! And that would've been scary!

Yeah, I was staring at that sentence, at a loss as to how to make it approach logic. I kind of gave up. The book is breaking my spirit.

Appropriate use of that word, page 201: "But now that the proverbial can was open, what were they supposed to do with the worms?"
