Five pounds a week is a very happy loss for me. Especially since I always had such a hard time losing weight in the past. Don't get me wrong, this is not a magic bullet, which I am positive that you know, it's a very very very very amazing tool

Welcome - congrats on your surgery. I am one year post VSG (on 6/10/12 - down 130 lbs in the last year, 220 lbs overall) and trust me, ENJOY these days where food holds no appeal. It's like that for maybe 3 months, and then all of a sudden, you're wanting to eat more and more. Be prepared for the WL to slow down drastically at some point - dont get discouraged, it's part of the process. Avoid the scale - dont weigh too often or the stalls will drive you crazy!
Protein, protein, protein - mashed potatoes are okay for a minute, but I wouldnt recommend eating them beyond the 4-6 week mark, because you need to focus on protein. Lower carbs = higher WL.
Congratulations on your weight loss, that is fantastic! When I weighed myself today I'm down to 219.8 from 251 originally and 241 from day of surgery.
There have been a few days when the scale hasn't budged, but then the next day I'm down 2lbs, that makes me a giddy girl!
I get my protein in during the day, thanks to the god awful cytomax drinks (It takes an entire 8 hours for me to choke them down lol) and then I've done my "foods" at night. I had mashed potatoes again thursday (we were out at Applebees) and I took one bite and was immediately turned off from them ... lol ... something that tasted so good a week ago has no appeal to me now. *shrugs* So the mashed potatoes are completely off the list of foods that I want.
I get to start soft foods on the 28th, I'm open to all suggestions you may be up for offering! I do have a list of foods from the doctor, but I like to pick other peoples brains as well. :)

Are you happy that food holds no appeal?
Are you concerned about getting your protein levels?
I'm getting sleeved in July.
If you don't mind me asking how long was it before you could drive?
