So, first things first, chestnut_filly podficced gelatin silver! The podfic is here. This is the first time someone's done a podfic of one of my things, so it's all very exciting ( Read more... )

The story of your username is amazing, and is completely different from how I've been pronouncing it, which is basically a mangled version of 'wilderness.' I like your version much better! :D

SUPER SECRET PROJECT ooooooooo

What kind of pie?

ooooOOOOoooooo.

...yeah, I feel like I'm about twelve for being like 'I'm going to tell you I'm working on something secret but it's SECRET!' but I also--well, I'm working on this thing, but I feel weird saying more in case I don't finish it (even I talk about normal fandom WIPs I may or may not finish all the time). I don't know, it's all not very cloak and dagger at all.

Blueberry pie! I am kind of stingy and am forever trawling the over-ripe produce cart at Superstore with everyone's grandmother, and this week I managed to snag a pound of blueberries or something ridiculous for three bucks.

I have a much dumber head-pronunciation of your name but I will try to mentally replace it. I wish more people would explain theirs, or maybe I'll just ask more. After awhile it's sort of weird not to be sure of someone's name since that's not something that happens with face-to-face friends. (Mine is just ordinary Italian which I think most people know, except possibly that the cc sound is ch)

Pies, always a fine idea. Peaches are still good here so I'm making a peach custard pie tonight.

I didn't know altri uccelli! I had to look it up. Just now. On the google. I am pretty lame at languages and don't know lots of things I probably should.

I kind of like the abstract nature of my username, but it's also weird because I do realize most people don't know how to say it, which is why I also go by Kate. Because it's my name, and it's easy to pronounce.

I love pie. I've been thinking about banana cream pie, now, which is my favorite, and-- but I have to finish this blueberry one. And man cannot live on pie alone.

I ask you, what did we do before the google.

'altri uccelli' is from a late 15th c. song about how marvelous crickets are that goes 'el grillo non fa come gli altri uccelli', which means 'the cricket is not like other birds' and cracks me up every time because obviously the cricket isn't in fact a bird, and... I guess this might be one of those situations where it's hard to explain why one finds something funny.

I have other reasons why I chose 'altri uccelli' but that's where it comes from.

...This procrastination brought to you by the desire to avoid grappling with my shameful inability to maintain POV in a fic I just got back from beta. :/

I remember before google, but it's weird how quickly it's become second nature to just google anything there's a question about--it's so easy! and convenient! it makes everyone very good at trivia! And did we used to just make bold statements and let uncertainty niggle at us? Did we?

Anyway, yes, I kind of get why that's funny. Yep.

I am procrastinating on this WIP I'm working on. It's harder for me than what I usually write, and I'm in this state where I want to write things that are harder for me, but it also means I feel like I write so slow.

Even though i knew/guessed at the Walden connection, i've been pronouncing your name wil-den-est, except all smooshed together. So kind of exactly like it looks.

Also, i am pro-silly-WiPs, and i vote!

Mmm, pie. Do you deliver?

Yeah, I use Walden as my last name, so it kind of might be obvious. But apparently you're not the only one who thought wildenest, which is--interesting. I kind of like that pronunciation, actually. Problems that emerge when you take out vowels, okay. Who would've thought?

Pro-silly-WIPs is the best vote. And reminds me that I need to make sure to get an absentee ballot even though my home state isn't so much a swing state. Especially not on the silly WIPs motion.

I'm afraid I don't deliver pie :( But Beans & Barley in Milwaukee has very good pie. Mmmm. Makes me miss MKE.

Huh, I've always thought it to be wildnest, syllables emphasized wilderness.

*shrugs*

Apparently you aren't the only one! And I kind of like that pronunciation, but, uh, I feel like I can't change it now. But I have no control over how you pronounce it in your own head, anyway ;)
