Just dropping through with a few things:
1. Okay, so I'm about 14k into my fic for
i_reversebang. It's a beast, is all I'm saying. Actually, scratch that, I'm going to keep talking--would anyone be interested in beta reading when I'm done? It's probably going to be about 20k, maybe more (but under 30k, I think--I hope) of Arthur/Eames fantasy AU, where Eames is

1) I would totally be up for betaing! I'm going out of town shortly so my net time will be inconsistent, but I'll definitely have time to edit, especially if posting isn't till July. :)
2) AO3 is awesome! I like the format, I like the search functionality, I especially love the download features, because I can easily create files that allow me to store the fic on my ereader of choice. It's also great for long fic, without LJ's posting limit.

One of the things I most like about AO3 is the search functionality and the fact that you can wade through so much fic that might not otherwise be in one place--lj can make it hard to find what you're looking for, especially if you aren't participating in the fandom real time (i.e. following whatever the relevant communities would be). On the other hand, having so much in one place can make it feel like you've seen everything in the fandom, when there is still a lot scattered elsewhere around the internet, and I'm not a huge fan of the 1000-work limit.

I agree! It's easier to find things sometimes but it's hard to look through everything. I tend to subscribe to favorite authors and also occasionally browse through, say, the Avengers tab. :)

Also, I love that AO3 let's you download fic, especially because work is hugely limiting our internet now, as it means I can download things onto my nook and read whenever. I use it as a backup/archive, posting my fic on lj and also posting it there. I also really loved their ToS when I signed up - it seemed very progressive and pro-creator.

I don't have any sort of ereader and usually just leave a window open when I want to read a fic on my laptop without internet access, but it still seems like AO3 is more good than bad. I will have to get myself on the registration waitlist, I guess. That's another thing that's been putting me off--though it's my own fault for not adding myself to the list sooner, it's like not getting in line because it's too long, but the fact of the matter is, the line's still going to be long when you come back.

Betaing for plot seems to have become a specialty of mine, so I'm glad to help in whatever capacity you'd like.

I don't use Ao3 to archive my stories personally, but it's quite readable and I do leave kudos and follow writers on it.

I don't know of any sort of hockey newsletter--I'm awful at finding that sort of stuff, for one, and for two I wouldn't say I'm really 'in' the hockey fandom so much as I read it when I stumble upon it, usually on AO3. Also, one of the pairings I like seems to be less popular this season--I could probably do research on the actual players and find out they had been traded or something, but that would involve work. Anyway, I think you might just need to tag stalk? Or start a newsletter yourself! But that would be...work.
