I am finally getting my shit together with some of my long-fermenting WIPs. There should be an Inception fic coming later this week, too, although after that there will probably be another long gap, because real life just keeps getting busier.
As for this--this is the modern Beauty & the Beast retelling I've wanted to write for this pairing since

Alex's voice was pitched perfectly here. He's funny and cynical and observant in an off-hand kind of way, which I really enjoyed. It was great how you described both how everyone else saw Hank, and then how Alex saw him, and how his view then changed. And that this was structured just like a fairy tale was lovely. Especially the end, because Alex tries to deny it, but everyone (including him) knows he believes in it.
Alex and Hank's interactions were also so wonderful! I think you have their voices pegged, and I love that they are both awkward, just in different ways.
“What type of animal are you?” the Beast asks, when he comes back.
Alex blinks at him.
“That’s my comeback,” the Beast says. “You insulted me when you arrived, and that’s my comeback.”
“Your comeback is repeating my own jab back at me?” Alex asks, and the Beast scowls slightly. It should be intimidating. It would be intimidating, if the conversation weren’t so stupid. This is so utterly ( ... )

As for Inception bb--I have a couple fic ideas that might work, but I'm pretty sure sign-ups go until mid-Nov/the first check-in? I'd like to get a few words (by which I mean ~10k) on paper before I register myself, because a lot of the deadlines fall during my first semester of grad school and I'm not sure what my life will look like. Right now I'm leaning towards a kind of plotty one where Ariadne is a druid and Arthur is a climatologist, and with their powers combined they stop global warming/perform inceptions on Celtic gods/some other things.
It makes sense in my head.
(It is ultimately Arthur/Eames.)
