Happy anniversary!

The 40th anniversary of the construction of the new Ottawa train station has just passed us by. Apparently the good people at VIA look back fondly on what has made my monthly commute from Montreal to Ottawa significantly more wasteful and inconvenient than it would be otherwise. Affordable TGV-style fast trains to useful places! I'd like a train that'd be faster than driving. ;-)

If the trip took half the time (see pphaneuf's suggestion above), they wouldn't need to clean the bathrooms!

A Toronto-Vancouver express that takes 2.5 days and is 1/2 the price of an air ticket.

More express Toronto-Montreal trains. Who lives in Brockville/Cornwall/Belleville/Kingston anyway, right?
