Of course you already know I love this story, but I just have to ask--what's the appeal of the fake cut? To practice your coding skills? (Cause I can't quite pull it off and make it look right.) It's a link, why not let it look like a link?

Um... That's a good question. I have no idea. I think because it looks strange to me otherwise. In my head links should be bold and obvious and LJ cuts do that really well. If I just made it a normal link it would be... skinny. And links are supposed to be fat. Like I said, this is what goes through my head, and I'm a little nuts. ^_^ I suppose I could bold the link and leave out the paretheses, but it just looks nice that way, don't you think?

It's also what people are looking for, honing in on when they go to read a story. You see a cut, you click on it. If you see a link, it... it feels different, don't you think?

Actually, that makes sense. I think I'm probably more likely to click on a cut than a link. It's like the cut is all inviting and teasing. Look! You don't have to go anywhere! Everything you want is right here, just behind the curtain. Come on, take a peek.

The internet must truly cultivate heights of laziness when following a link seems like too much effort. ^_^
