....? I'm little confused as to why Cameron had to do all that to make Reese get sent back in time... Maybe he had to volunteer?

Yes, she wanted him to volunteer, because by volunteering, he has totally committed himself to the mission and therefore is going to be a better protector for Sarah. When you send someone on a one way trip, you want to make sure they are totally committed. :)

And of course Cam went back, but to the right time, not the wrong time. ;)

I really enjoy this series, especially the whole time-traveling aspect of it. The idea that Cameron keeps going back regardless of the many similar outcomes is kind of tragic, yet beautiful. Thanks for sharing such a lovely story.

Yes it is tragic. Cameron is also basically ageless, so time travel is the only sure way she has of staying with Sarah and that is what makes it worth it, being with Sarah.
