Not long after Ran left the room, Aya, too, slipped outside. They obviously didn't think there was any need to hover around her now, so it seemed fair that she didn't need to think there was either. Down the stairs she went, not minding the nip in the air or the chill of the handrail against her palm. She'd had a full day now to absorb what Ran had said, all the secrets and truths of his current life. It wasn't nearly enough time. Aya supposed it would be many days, maybe even a week or more, before she'd truly come to terms with it. Or she might never truly come to terms with it, who even knew ( ... )

It was funny. Aya almost could have forgotten in that moment that she'd been sequestered off to a new bedroom with no door around three assassins, two of which were strangers and the other of which was her estranged brother.

"Ah, no worries at all! Yesterday was actually really busy-- the move is finished now. I think... But some help unpacking would be great! Are you sure you don't mind? That would help me out so much!" And give her some much-desired time with a friend. That kind of company was completely welcome.

"Of course I don't," Sakura assured her with another bright smile. "I... well, when we last moved we were still getting stuff out of boxes weeks later. I guess it's probably different when it's not a family but I bet it's still a lot and I'd be happy to help, Aya-chan, really."

She shivered slightly, drawing her new coat a little more tightly about her. It was still cold, but - well, it didn't seem to matter quite so much, not now she wasn't feeling... well, quite so very spare in the face of all the girls and their friends who hung around the flower shop. She didn't think she envied them quite so much any more - though, she thought slightly ruefully, it would have been nice to just be able to spend time round Ran and his friends without... well, anything else getting in the way of it.

"So, um..." She hesitated. There was a question she needed to ask, an obvious one, but... well, it was probably going to sound stupid whenever she asked. "Where are you living now? I don't think you mentioned, or maybe you did and I forgot, but anyway ( ... )
