The young man smiled. "You did once. It's okay that you don't remember."
His companion tilted his head in contemplation. "Okay, then this might sound weird since I shouldn't have any memories, but... I pictured you differently."
The young man laughed. "Younger, maybe?"
"...kinder."
Brief shock changed the young man's face... and the boy resurfaced for just a moment, before vanishing again.
"So... I'm not the only one who's lost something," the older man whispered sadly.
"It's okay." The young man could only offer him a bittersweet, longing smile. "But... thank you."
"For what?"
"...for remembering."
