Normally, there could be a six point earthquake directly under Dairine's bed, and it wouldn't wake her up. (Once, just to illustrate this, Nita had actually moved her bed off-planet, just to be a brat.) But this particular morning, she wakes up before dawn with with the soft hum of the far-distant mobiles in her head.

Wait--what?Her eyes pop open

And Nita fell out of bed, flailing at her sister. "What's back? What'reyou talkin' about?" She rubbed her eyes with the back of her hand, not hearing-

Singing. She could hear singing.

And she looked up, and could see the tiniest little cobweb spider spinning it's web, hard at work. "Dairine?!"

"Yeah." Dairine is beaming down at her fit to crack her face open. "Dai stiho, Neets."

"Dai." She didn't even think before the word lept to her lips, and she scrambled off the floor, half-launching herself at her sister for a hug, before remembering-

Kit.

Her face just fell, like a house of cards in a stiff wind.

Dairine catche her as the hug collapses, holding her up.

"Leave him a message in the manual," she says, without missing a beat. "If we're back in ambit even for a few minutes, it'll go."
