Sara is hiding hanging out in the FBI building today. She's mostly been occupying Neal's desk while he runs off and does other things but occasionally she floats around and talks to other people ( Read more... )

Peter's a little bit one-track in his thoughts at the moment. It takes a few seconds for his mind to clear out of plans, bits of files, and the need for coffee enough for him to actually recognize Sara beyond the fact that somebody else is making coffee and that means he doesn't have to play with the coffeemaker until one of his team takes pity on him.

... It's a system. It's not a great system, but it's easier than learning how to use it.

When he does manage to collect himself enough to actually realize who it is standing there, she gets a (still distracted, but that is to be expected at the moment) smile. "Sara. How're you doing?"

He was aware she was around. He remembers being told she was there. But since he hasn't actually come out of his office very much for the day to run into her himself, he hasn't had much reason to think about it.

She's not expecting anyone to drop what they're doing and entertain her, she's not even really looking to get noticed that much. She is perfectly content just hanging out around the office and catching a few words with whoever looks like they're not busy.

This is why she's not talked to Peter, he does not understand the concept of not being busy right now. This is, however, why she and Neal have been entertaining each other on and off all afternoon.

She smiles warmly at him, finishing up the coffee. "I'm...good." She sounds unsure of her words, not really certain if she wants to actually tell Peter she's playing the avoidance game or if she thinks he's a little too wrapped up in his own work to care. She's still trying to find the balance with all of this stuff, she is making an effort though.

"You seem to be busy today," she laughs a little. "Which is probably an understatement but." She shrugs.

It's not as though he's going to say anything about her avoidance if she mentions it. Sara's a big girl, she can take care of her own work, and she's not part of his team, so Peter has no reason to interfere. He might offer to listen, but she'd be better off with one of the others for that anyway. He's not the greatest sounding board, especially when distracted.

As it is, he doesn't question the uncertainty, though there is a momentary glance as though he's thinking about mentioning it. But if she wants to bring it up, she will, so he doesn't.

He shrugs. "Yeah, there's a lot to get done. But, at least everything's going okay so far. It'll go even better if that coffee's going to be done soon," he adds with a smile.

Oh, she doesn'[t expect him to judge her for her avoidance, she's just not sure if it's even worth mentioning it. She talked to Neal about it a little bit and it didn't really help matters any, so she doesn't expect that talking to Peter is going to make it much better.

She catches the glance and waves it off. He's busy, she can talk to other people if she really wants to. It was a momentary lapse in judgement, that's all.

She arches her eyebrows at him. "Wow, you're subtle." She moves out of the way to let him get at the coffeemaker. "You know, if you're not 9in the mood for office coffee, I could go make a run. I'll grab you lunch too, if you ask nicely."

On a note unrelated to this tag, I am not allowed to make Diana's journal "ladysuit". weshouldbestars August 20 2011, 19:14:02 UTC
Diana needs a break. She's been staring at paper and making calls long enough to make a headache start building, and it's time to step away from her desk for a few minutes.

Apparently the answer to needing a break, today, is seeing how Sara's doing. If Sara wasn't here she'd find something else to get up for, but she's a convenient excuse. So she makes her way into the kitchen, pretty sure that's the way she last saw Sara heading, and gives her a grin when she sees her.

"Keeping busy?"

Oh but you totally, totally are. withoutahome August 21 2011, 01:08:05 UTC
"You could say that." She waggles the coffee pot at her. "I decided to see if I could actually make some decent coffee. We'll see how that goes." She's not hoping for much but she's going to give it a try.

Finishing up, she turns her attention fully on Diana. "Taking a break?" Last time she saw her, she seems to be rather immersed in work and Sara hadn't really been expecting to get a word in with her until later.
