Pwn'd!

I'm laughing at some of McCain's accusations against Obama. The most laughable? Obama's birth certificate is supposedly into question again, that he wasn't born here. Okay, even if that were true, he would still be a natural born citizen. Why? Two words; duel citizenship ( Read more... )

Did they change the law then? Last I knew one had to be born in the US to run for & be president.

You have to be a natural born citizen. If your mom is a citizen and you are born in another country, you are still a natural born citizen.
But somebody told me that even though you're a born citizen you can't run anyway, that is really stupid :\

Oh, I understand what you are saying on the first part. The 2nd part, huh? Such as being born here but the parents are not citizens? (omg - I'm so ignorant about my own country - I know I learned this stuff in school once but that was a verrrry long time ago.)

Hmm...you mean if your parents are here under a visa or visiting? I don't think you're a US citizen in that case but I'm not sure.
I know a bit about my country but I'm no expert, I could probably pass the Citizenship Test though :B

You really do have to have been born in the US - my mom was born in the UK and was at birth considered a US citizen but cannot run for president. It is a rather stupid law.

However, most of the "evidence" that Obama wasn't born in the US is pretty unsubstantiated in of itself and you'd think it would have come out oh, during the Democratic primary if it were true? Not less than a week before the general election?

That's retarded! You should be able to run if you fall under duel citizenship, bah humbug.

Ya dual citizenship pretty much screws you over. I couldn't run for federal parliament in either country, not that I would really want to but still...
