I sent away for my birth certificate back in the beginning of February. According to their policy, they would have started the process right after my check cleared and it would have taken 12 weeks since then until I can get it. My checked cleared in around the end of February and I got a thing in the mail saying that my birth certificate would get ( Read more... )

When are you going? Because don't you need a passport now to get into Canada, not just a birth certificate? I think that passed this January. A passport takes a few weeks too, I think I didn't get mine for like six weeks. That'd be cutting it close if you plan to go soon. :( On the bright side, Maybe you'll have been one of the first people they processed, if you're lucky, and you'll get it by the end of this week or next? I don't see why it would take twelve weeks. I think it took me maybe a month to get mine. Though, I don't live in California so I don't know how they do things out there, haha.

I need a birth certificate to get a passport. My mom lost my old one, so I have to get a new one.

Supposedly, the passports took that long because of the rush from everybody when the law passed. I know a few people that got theirs after 2 weeks.

I got my passport before that. I got it back in 2005 when Tim and I were supposed to go to England. However, isn't there a way to do a passport renewal or duplicate? I didn't think you needed your birth certificate for that? Or the old passport? I know nothing about this kind of thing so it's just good to know just in case, haha.

I've never had one before, so it's brand new passport for me.

that sucks! British Columbia is one of our most beautiful provinces ^-^ It's a shame, I would love for you to see it. I went for a week at the end of Feb/beginning of March and went to two cities. It was so breathtaking!

I've been to British Columbia before. Vancouver, Inland Passage, Victoria, and some places I don't remember the names of. I absolutely love it, if I were to move to Canada, it would be the B.C. :D
