I WANT TO MOVE!!

Feb 12, 2008 19:45

I want to move so bad. I don't want to move just out of this house, I want to move out of Los Angeles. Out of Southern California. The farther from my mother and my brother (though, he's not as bad right now) the better. I don't even know how to go about finding an out-of-state job. I have no idea how to even begin searching like that. At least ( Read more... )

You just apply, like normal...in your cover letter you would mention where you live now and how you are planning to be in that state whenever, that's all. Look on Craigslist for the area you want to live in, but I would suggest getting a job NOW saving so you can move FIRST then find a job...or at least have the money to move and find a job at the same time. It would suck to get a job somewhere and have no money to live there you know....maybe you should stay in Cali but live in a different area, like say my area and then it won't be so far away from home so the move won't be so hard.
When I moved to another state, Oregon to Cali, I lived with my aunt first then my gma...so that helped me out...
Good luck

I plan on that. I'm not even going to think of moving out of state until I have some money squared away for it (which only a job will get me).
I'd love to live in OR or Northern AZ, neither states are so far. It's 6 hours to Phoenix, so about 10 hours to Sedona\Flagstaff from Los Angeles. You know the length for OR I bet :)

Yea I hear ya...need a job to make money. I am just so glad I found one when I did, I was hurting...I am excited my benefits start soon...
My shelter is hiring if you end up in my neck of the woods...:)
Oregon's job market SUCKS SO BAD, hence why I left...well besides all the exes I had there that I kept running into...awkward, incredibly...:P
But yea there is nothing to do there, unless you have ridiculous amount of degrees or want to work minimum wage forever (which is SO LOW it's sad)...
It's 7 hours to Oregon from here, so about 13 hours from LA to OR...

If you want to move to an area where you know someone, perhaps you can visit and scope out the jobs there?

Places like monster.com allow you to look for jobs in other states.

You either:
1. Visit a friend in the area you wish to live in and apply/interview
2. Save up money (a decent amount) move and test your luck applying/interviewing
3. Find somewhere that will hire you without interviewing you in person which is a rarity
4. Find somewhere you can take a trip to and stay a few days (like save up money for travel/hotel) and apply/interview or apply and wait to travel until you secure an interview.

It was super hard when I was looking to move, everyone demanded an interview in person and wanted one ASAP and I didn't have the money to travel right there on the spot.
