I'm afraid I fail to understand how a 'rubber chicken' is meant to help restore the ship.

[...Actually.] What precisely is a 'rubber chicken?'

[YOUR LOGIC MAKES NO SENSE ADMIRAL, SHE OBJECTS ON A SCIENTIFIC LEVEL.]

new kind of quest, admiral, can't i track warp signatures or somethi, [comm] lastvoyages, since when are chickens made of rubber

As I understand it, it is an object traditionally used in a practice called 'prop comedy' on twentieth century Earth.

I am... unsure how it would be beneficial to any ship.

[wtf Admiral. :|]

It would be easier to accept that the Admiral functions with different laws of physics and technology than to assume this is his brand of humor at work. [Again.]

It is also possible that the items themselves are not what they appear to be. I would not consider even rationally held perceptions particularly trustworthy given the context.

Perhaps. That would give rise to the possibility that port functions as I presume the CES does: an incredibly realistic holographic projection. It's possible what we are seeing isn't where we actually are.

Precisely as it sounds. A piece of plastic made in the shape of a chicken.

The purpose of which Commander Spock has enlightened me. I still see no function for it in repairs.

It is a mystery to how the Barge functions. Perhaps the chicken form is not necessary?

If that were the case, why request it specifically? Sending us to find rubber items would theoretically have a higher likelihood of success.

Either we've just found out why the Barge has so many issues, or he's just trying to keep us distracted while he fixes the ship.

...let me know if you see a rickshaw.

Both are clear possibilities. [Damn it.]

Should I come across one, I'll be sure to set it aside for you.

I have to get a jar of phlogiston.

I have to get a fucking jar of phlogiston.

Why did this man not just tell me to get a jar of cyclops eyes. Those would be easier to find.

I'm not familiar with that term. [Because SERIOUSLY OUTDATED EARTH THINGS were not on her list of things to learn. :c What the hell Admiral, just bottle oxidation for us. >|]

And I can't say I understand. These seem more...methods of distraction.

I do. Our other option is a four year journey. [And when she has it, she will play repairman damn it. :|]
