He knew that Belle didn't make a fuss about her birthday, so when she mentioned going out to dinner with her dad on Sunday night he just nodded and told her to have fun, and offered to take her patrol that night.  She, of course, told him she'd do a sweep when she got home; she didn't like him being out at night alone ( Read more... )

"Not a thing," Belle smiled, climbing the stairs to his house slowly, keeping pace with him. She'd graduated high school less than a month prior and had elected to take a year off to save money and work on training up to be a better slayer.

"I wasn't planning on it." He unlocked the door, letting her walk before him. It was ingrained not to actually invite her in. It was almost as ingrained to keep their relationship between them, but that was something he could perhaps unlearn. "Unless you want me to?"

He turned on the light as he turned to lock the door behind them, something he only did when she was inside the house. If she were to look to the left she might notice the table is not covered with books, as usual.

"The Fourth of July's kind of a big deal to most people," Belle pointed out. "And you've been here a while. It might be good for people to see you there?" She headed into the house, slipping off her jacket and low heeled shoes once they got inside.

"As a Scotsman whose second home was London for a number of years I'm rather split over celebrating independence from England," he teased as he slid off his own jacket, hanging it up before heading for the kitchen. He started the oven first, as it needed to preheat for the berry crumble he had already prepped in the fridge.

"Can I get you a drink, love?"
