A rush of three kids met Brenda at the door when she opened it, and she gave them all kisses and hugs before asking, "What did you do with Izzie?"
"Played outside," Zach said, matter-of-factly.
Poor Izzie. "Played what outside?"
"Tag."
Brenda shook her head. "Did you wear her out?"
"Yep," Sam said. "She was it."
"Homework done?"
Karen shook her head. "Not yet."
"Sam, is yours done?" He nodded. "Help your sister. I have to talk to Izzie. Zach, go play."
"Okay," they chorused, and Karen grabbed her backpack, leaving for the kitchen with Sam.
"Izzie?" Brenda called, hanging up her coat. "I have news for you."
"Played outside," Zach said, matter-of-factly.
