Her parents had abandoned her when she had needed them the most and when he looks at the fragile girl in front of him asking if he’ll always protect her, he wants to find her parents and destroy them. Just like they almost destroyed her because they couldn’t handle the fact that their daughter was a mutant. When she had needed them the most, they had rejected her and it tears him up inside. So he promises her that he’ll always look after her and he’s rewarded by her bright smile, which makes all of his thoughts of revenge disappear.

Logan holds her lifeless body close and he knows that he would do anything he could to bring her back to life. Yet the touch of his bare skin against her bare skin seems to do nothing. He starts to cry as he holds her closer, still desperate to do anything that will revive her but he knows that he’s powerless. And then suddenly her power kicks in and he feels the sharp pain of her skin drawing his life and power out of his body into her body. The tears that he cries quickly change from sorrow to pain.

He’s relived every single touch they’ve ever shared over and over again in his mind. The few times when her bare skin has connected with his is something that he keeps in the corner of his mind, even when he’s with someone else. He wishes that they were normal, that they could touch one another, but at the same time he knows if they were normal then they would never have found one another. Her power forces them apart and it’s as if he is some form of Hell where he can only look from afar at what he desires.
