[ Terra has successfully made it past the doorway of the cafeteria herself. Not because she wasn't sure of the edible nature of the food, because those hot dogs did look questionable... but more that she didn't much care for the crowd. Still, she was -hungry-. And as such, food has overcome her fear. Just... don't mind the green haired girl spooking at shadows. Best SeeD Material yet, right, right? ]

[ Wha- the hot dogs look amazing, I don't know what you're talking about. Zell manages to look up from his feeding frenzy long enough for the green to catch his eye, raising an eyebrow. He's seen a lot of people with funny haircuts before - though he wouldn't include his own in that statement, if you asked him - but he's definitely never seen someone with green hair.

Setting his fork down, he self-consciously wipes his mouth with a napkin before calling over. ]

You look kinda shaken up. You alright?

[ But .. but they're unnatural! Food should not look like that. At least as far as Terra was concerned. Startling at the voice, she glances over towards Zell, and offers a weak smile. ]

I ... I guess so. I just... [ Ah, she steps over towards Zell cautiously. ] I don't like crowds. Although this ... isn't really all that bad, in comparison.

[ They aren't unnatural, they're beautiful. Just look at the design of- well, actually, nevermind. Don't look at the design. They taste great, okay? He returns the smile easily. ]

Ohh, you're that kinda person. I get it. But everyone here's pretty nice, so don't worry about that too much.

[ Well, except for Seifer. But Zell's hoping the time compression decided to leave him behind. He turns to look at the cafeteria line and then looks back at her with a grin. ]

You should get yourself something to eat before all the good stuff's taken. You can come sit here if you want.

[Espio is a little annoyed - mostly because everything was annoying right now, admittedly - by this guy suddenly announcing his desire to help the cadets out before immediately speeding off. And he was supposed to be a SeeD? Espio thought they were supposed to be elite. Still, since the cafeteria is where he wants to go, he follows him, and can't help but comment on it as he approaches the counter.]

So how the heck did you pass, rushing around like that?

[metalknuckles]

[ Zell whirls around at being addressed, mouth dropping open just a bit at seeing who's talking. He really wants to ask exactly what Espio even is, but then his words catch up to Zell's brain. ]

Hey, I'm totally competent when it comes to being a SeeD, alright? I was just really hungry.

I'm sure.

[Well, it wasn't as though this guy had proved competence at anything, and it wasn't as though "elite" had to mean "robot." Espio isn't really bothered by those important details, though, and is just being an arse for the sake of being an arse.]

Well, at least I know the training will be easy.

[ This guy's attitude is rubbing Zell the wrong way, but he doesn't want to seem like he's unapproachable when he just made that speech about being friendly. So he makes his best attempt at being cordial, for now. ]

Some parts aren't too bad. Training is a breeze if you like fighting. ...some of the classes can get kinda hard, though. Especially the ones where you have to learn history. Talk about boring.

[Rikku was wandering around Garden for a while now; she kind of looked for a cool place to spend her time. Library - well, waaay too quiet, she got bored like in 5 minutes she got there. Training center? No way, now's the time to slack off a bit. Infirmary? What would she do in the infirmary? And as such, she decided the best place would be the cafeteria. She was getting hungry anyway.]

Oh yeah MUNCHIES TIME!

[She exclaimed way too loudly even for her own taste and she covered her lips for a moment. But then, she simply jumped in the line when she noticed the guy with totally funky hair.]

You there! Anything tasty to grab?

[ Zell turned to look at her, then made a look of deep contemplation for this was a very serious question. ]

I'd say you should get the hot dogs. They're the best thing on the menu by far.

[She nods withan aprobation.]

Hot dogs. Definitely something like I'd eat. Thanks! I knew you're a person who knows his way around!

[She waits in a line patiently for a while, but since it seems to move pretty slow, Rikku turns to the guy again.]

Is it always so crowded here? And, say, were you thrown here from another world too, or are are you a regular?

[Then she finally realizes something.]

I didn't even introduce myself, gosh! My name's Rikku.

[ He looks pretty pleased about looking like someone who knows his way around. Just the right impression to give off to the newbies. ]

Hey, no problem! ...well, yeah. We have a lot of people here so the cafeteria lines tend to get backed up. But as long as you remember to rush over here as soon as lunch or dinner comes around, you should be able to get all the good stuff.

[ Pausing, he grins and scratches his nose. ]

Naahh, not a different world. Though I am from a different time period. I'm supposed to be twenty years in the past, but somehow I ended up in the future instead. Stupid time compression thing.

[ He has to raise an eyebrow at her Al Bhed, but decides not to ask her what kind of crazy language that just was. That'd be rude or something, right? ]

[ She's standing around in the cafeteria, looking down at her tray of food. It's not that it's a lot of food, really--it's that she hasn't ever seen a lot of it. What is this long piece of meat between two slices of bread? ]

[ He passes by with his own tray and spots hers. Grinning, Zell gives Nia a thumbs-up. ]

The hot dogs here are great, huh?

[ She smiles, and then tilts her head. What did he say? ]

[ Okay, he has to stop and burst into a laugh at that greeting. That's just precious. ]

Hey, how you doing?

[ Wait, did she just say what he thinks she said? Hold on just a minute. This girl can't be for real. ]

A hot dog. You know, what you've got on your plate. It's only the best food in the world.

[ Zell stops and turns to check if the voice was supposed to be directed at him, almost choking on a hot dog in the process. Coughing and pounding on his chest with one fist, he manages a reply. ]

Chk what're you cggh talking about? Haven't you hack ever seen a guy eat before?

[ A couple more hearty pounds and he's out of choking danger, grabbing his milk carton to wash the hot dog down. ]

I'm alright. I always do that...I think I might get a little too excited when I eat.

[ Zell raises an eyebrow at him. ] Are you one of the newbies? You don't look familiar.
