[ Oh, the Doctor didn't waste any time once he was settled in.He'd have to explore every inch of this place, and if he didn't achieve all of that today, well, he'd skip some classes. (Except not.) He still couldn't believe that he had to take some classes--did they still lecture? It'd been ages since he'd been in a classroom. In a real, proper ( Read more... )

[ A new professor? Or perhaps one that was already established - she wasn't sure. He could be a teacher of a class she didn't have. Still, Terra was feeling restless at the same time as the Doctor -- rather, John Smith -- was exploring, and being that she had no class at the moment (yay for free periods) she opted to wander a bit listlessly, arms folded, lost in thought.

Not so lost in thought that she smacks into people thankfully though, this time. She can't help herself to ask, overhearing some of the muttering though. ]

Forget what...?

[ Hmm? Someone talking? Well, a lot of people talking, but one, to him. The Doctor glanced around before his eyes fell on Terra. Oh, that was brilliant. ]

Just rambling. Now...

[ he leans over to peer into her face. ]

I'm John Smith. Who're you?

Oh! I'm sorry if I was interrupting, I -- erm [ He leans forward, and she leans back a bit in surprise, blinking. ]

My name? It's ... [ A slight hesitation here - another name had surfaced, which felt more "right" to her, but she'd always been giving the other name. Why stop now? ] It's Tina.

[ A smile and a slight bow follows. ] It's nice to meet you. Are you new around here then?

Tina. Nice name, Tina--no last name?

[ he straightens, and looks around, turning his back to her for a moment before turning back. ]

You could. Say that, yes, I'm more new than old, here. You're a... student, aren't you?

[Who is this person? He moves like a drunken giraffe or something. And muttering to himself... while wearing a suit that looks older than him, complete with a bow-tie of all things. All the hallmarks of a "nutty professor."]

Having fun chattering away to yourself?

Quite a bit, yes--hello.

[ oh, that's. attracted his attention. ]

And who are you?

Espio the Chameleon.

[Espio takes a short moment to come up with another way to criticise this person, because criticising people is... I dunno, his way of saying "hi" or something?]

Shouldn't you have introduced yourself first?

No, not really, you were the one who called me out in the first place.

[ and the Doctor is practically immune to insults, have fun, Espio! ]

But! I'm-- [ oh, he was about to say 'The Doctor'. he caught himself. ] John Smith.

[ talking to self, completely different. the Doctor draws a jagged line in the air, face in concentration. he's trying to figure out how his path was, having seen the map before. and without glancing back at Link: ]

I'm not lost. Don't you worry. And yes, I'm talking to myself, it's a habit, not easily broken...

No, you don't, shouldn't say things you don't mean--odd.

[ turns, sharply. ]

You're a student, aren't you?

[He looks up from the book he's reading.]

Would it help if you wrote it down then?

Possibly, possibly not, and what are you reading?

[ gently plucks it from his hands, then flicks through it, essentially "reading" it. ]

... slow start. Well--here's your page.

[He gives you this curious look as he takes the book back.]

I suppose they wanted to make sure that everyone understood the setting.

Yes, but there are just as much power in small words than big ones. Less is more.

Well, sometimes.

[A young girl - though apparently, the Garden hasn't quite recognised that she is a girl, given the male uniform she is wearing - walks past the Doctor. Slumped posture, one hand holding her other arm, staring at the ground as she shuffles more than she walks. She glances up upon hearing the Doctor speak.]

Are you...

[Okay? Is what she was going to ask, but she trails off, flailing a little as though she never intended to say anything. Nervous is an understatement.]

S-sorry! I was - um. Going. This way...

[EEP! Crona doesn't know how to react. A person just told her to stop! And so, she stops, not looking back at the unfamiliar man and trembling ever so slightly.]

Uh, yes! Sorry, yes...

[ he slowly turns and walks towards her, peering into her face. ]

Why are you wearing the wrong... uniform.
