This system is a little old. Guess it's all you got without towers for a PHS system.

Name's Strife. Is there anyone else from Gaia here? I was told that it might be possible... but I am not holding my breath. They also explained this SeeD place as being a kind of school for fighters. Is it true they are not associated with any country or ( Read more... )

Once you graduate, you're expected to do missions to bring in money for Garden. Other than that... the headmaster's a good guy. Not the sort who'll leave people stuck in a strange world and who might be hated for it out in the cold.

Sounds familiar. I am not use to hearing people doing something without expecting anything else back.

Hey, it happens! There's plenty of nice people around here. Give 'em a chance, don't go in expecting the worst!

Expecting the best does not prepare you for when it all blows up in your face.

[Another one.]

There's me and another girl as far as I know. What they said about SeeD is true, too.

What they expect I can't say. I haven't found out either.

...Cissnei. The Turk? I thought... you were dead.

I am finding it hard to believe. These SeeD... A group outside of politics is just too good to be true.

I might be, I might not be. You're from a different time than me then.

It all checks off from the little I've been able to look into, but who knows. [She's learned not to trust anything that's given to her right off the bat.]

I am unless you know about the Remnants.

Agreed.

Have you taken a look at the school system?

She's not connecting that name with Cloud, derp adewdropbright September 14 2011, 00:52:17 UTC
[ Well, it looks like that girl from Gaia responded, so Aerith skips that question and focuses on the others. ]

You're right, they're not with any country. The SeeDs are hired as mercenaries.

What Garden expects is for students to follow the rules. Once they graduate, they can become a SeeD or instructor if they want to stay. In my case, I decided to be an instructor. If you're too old to be a student, there are other ways to help out.

pffft yeah, he figures Cloud is not the name he wants to use in a strange place ATM atouchofstrife September 14 2011, 01:02:33 UTC
Mercenaries... Ironic.

I guess I am still young enough to be a Cadet. Even if I have Sorcerer powers. So that's it? No hidden motives to help out people from other worlds?

[ ... but instead of getting sent right away there is a pause because he SEES the name attached to the message and freezes... ]

...Aerith?

Ironic? Could you explain a little more clearly?

I suppose the most 'hidden' motive is that a lot of people outside Garden don't trust those with 'sorceress' powers. If we all had to fend for all ourselves, a lot of us could end up showing our abilities. It'd cause a panic. Maybe other problems too. Most people wouldn't want that for their world.

That's my name. A-e-r-i-t-h. I don't like calling myself 'instructor' on the BBS, it feels so stuffy. There are cadets older than me!

A friend and I were going to become mercenaries before things got too sticky for us.

Huh. I guess that would be a motive enough.

...Aerith, it's Cloud. You... don't remember my last name?

it is very peculiar, isn't it? A military academy with no ties to any countries, not even for the purpose of funding. It's almost like an oxymoron.

I don't think they expect anything in return. 'The goodwill of the people', I suppose.

The ones I know are usually attached to companies or countries. It's different.

Huh.

I have been here for a while, yet I'm still a bit wary.

So far, nothing seems too peculiar, though.

It's best to stay on your toes in a new situation instead of accepting it completely.
