Scenario A: Inn Kitchen
[Don't ask how or why, but somehow through the magic of politics and sheer scaring the crap out of people, Damian's managed to commandeer the Inn Kitchen for an hour or two to make iftaar for the evening. It's still daylight, so he can't taste or drink the stuff he's making... and it's kind of a problem

[Zephyr's actually on his way out of the inn to find something to eat when he smells... Well, something being cooked up. The smell's unfamiliar to him, so he wanders over to the inn kitchen to see what's up, only to find the guy he was stuck in the elevator with a little while back.]

Hey. What're you makin'?

[bratbeyond]

[S'up Zephyr? Damian looks up from his cookbook and gives the guy an acknowledging nod.] Food for tonight. You up for taste-testing anything?

...Taste-testing?

[He ambles over and looks at what's on the menu. It's still a giant unknown, but he shrugs anyway.]

Sure, I guess. Any reason why you can't do it yourself?

[bratbeyond]

Yeah. I'm kind of fasting. [He makes a face, but gestures towards the completed dishes so far. They're pretty simple - just hummus and baked pita chips - but he's planning on frying some zucchini in basan flour too.]

It's... kind of a religious thing back in my world. So if you wouldn't mind?

B! Oh look, CR finally gdi me.

It's nice out being next to the ocean like this. There's usually a breeze so the weather is usually pretty nice too.

[His footsteps are quiet, a habit from all the stealth he's done in the cowl or mask. He's sure the other realized he was approaching even before he spoke though.]

Yeah. [Damian noticed, alright, but he's okay with talking to a complete stranger. Putting the date pit into his plastic glass, he motions for Dick to sit next to him.] I think it's been like, a year since I've been able to visit the ocean.

This can only be awkward and beautiful.

[Dick takes a seat next to him. He's a little surprised the other doesn't seem to mind the company, but it isn't unwanted. This beats being insulted.] That's a pretty long time. Is that because you couldn't at home or you were stuck here that long?

A little bit of both. [He shrugs, glancing over at Dick. This guy looks really familiar, but he doesn't know why.] It'll be a full year in a couple of weeks, but Neo-Gotham wasn't exactly a beach town either.

[Stops when he sees his doppelganger in the kitchen.] Why are you cooking if you can't eat? Are you a masochist or something?

Iftaar isn't going to make itself. [He shrugs, wiping his hands on a paper towel as he motions for his other self to come in.] My dad just got out of the hospital, so it's not like I can ask him to help either.

[Comes in.] You received word from back home?

[bratbeyond]

Huh? [Damian shakes his head.] I meant my adoptive dad. He was in a coma for the past month and a half.

[Damian had mentioned to him earlier that he might check out the pier later that night, so when Aang had run out of things to do, he decided to head down there to see if he could meet him. As he approaches the end of the pier, it turns out Damian is there, which is lucky. With a smile, he joins him at the edge of the pier, sitting with his legs hanging out over the water.]

Hey. What're you up to?

Breaking my fast. [He grins, glancing over at his best friend.] And I'm gonna pray Maghrib later, if you want to join me.

[monkingaround]

[Aang smiles back, kicking his feet lazily.] Pray Maghrib? How do you do that?

[bratbeyond]

It's kind of hard to explain, so it'll be easier if I show you. Now that I think about it... you haven't really seen me pray, have you?

[Usually, Damian just excuses himself whenever he needs to pray. It's how he normally does it with his Christian/Jewish/non-Muslim friends back home.]

Oh HEY! [Right behind you!] Whacha cookin'? Can I help? I love cooking, too! What are you doing here anyway? You don't really look like you work here. Are you helping out?

[Who let her in? Damian jumps, swerving to face this... really energetic Instructor before slowly nodding.]

I'm making iftaar for tonight... Um, do you like taste-testing?

If tar? Why would you wanna eat tar? [If it's tar, she doesn't wanna taste test.]

[Resisting the urge to facepalm...] It means "meal" in Arabic---and it's for breaking my fast this evening. That's all.
