[COMMANDER... Well that explains the familiar part, but moving on. Hmm so many holidays, but...]

Obon would be nice. It is a festival to honor the deceased. It can be celebrated on the 15th of August. [Since July seems short notice.]

There is an event that is not so much as a national holiday where I'm from, but rather a celebration mostly seen in schools that might do us well here. It's referred to as a "Culture Day" where we share different things from our individual cultures.

Ramadan starts August 1st this year. It's a religious holiday that lasts about 30 days, and people who celebrate it - Muslims - mark it by fasting from sunup to sundown. After the last day, there's a celebration called Eid Al-Fitr where people wear new clothes and eat until they're sick.

It's kind of like Christmas for some people or whatever equivalent holiday people have for it.

- Damian

[He also sent Squall an intensely detailed PM about Ramadan, specifying exactly how the cafeteria could help them out (mainly by selling dates and fruit juice) and how faculty and instructors could help Muslims like Damian out (ie, going easy on him and being okay if he misses an assignment).

It might be a little too long, but he likes being prepared.]
