[It had been a couple days, yet she was still so angry. She could hardly remember the last time she was this angry.. which was odd, considering how prone she was to anger. Being the rebel princess she was, she hadn't been attending the 'classes' she was told to, and instead confined herself in the library, reading book upon book about.. well, ( Read more... )

[Would a wakeup call of a large bag nearly bursting with books being dropped on a nearby table do?]

[Maria winces at the noise, she honestly hadn't meant to be so loud about it...]

[Sounds good to me. To Ashe, however, I imagine it's a pretty horrible sound.

Shooting up almost immediately, Ashe takes a moment to gather her bearings before looking up at Maria with a confused expression.]

Ah.. I fell asleep. Thank you for waking me. [.. that was embarrassing.]

I -- [She'd been about to apologize, but now she was being thanked? Her brain: scrambled.]

What are you reading?

[That's a safe thing to ask!]

[... that was a good question. She'd skimmed through so many books she'd lost track of what she had been reading. She flips the book over to look at the spine.]

It is a book on this world's history.

[Back when Lightning had first gotten here, she'd done much the same as Ashe, reading books left and right as if they held all the answers. They hadn't, of course, but that hadn't stopped her from trying. Now, as she sees the other woman passed out of the desk, Lightning is reminded of that and she shakes her head. Maybe it's not the same reason, but it's enough of one for Lightning to step over, tapping Ashe's shoulder to try and wake her.]

Hey. This isn't a place to sleep.

[Ashe stirs, and after a moment, sits up rather slowly. Blinking a few times to focus her vision, she rubs her eyes and looks around. ... Where was she again?

Oh. Right. The library. The books gave it away.]

... Forgive me, I meant no harm. I must be overdoing it..

[Lightning just shakes her head; it's not the first time someone's dozed in the library, that's for sure.]

It happens. But if you're here, they gave you a dorm room. You should sleep there, not over your books. [Because sleeping on top of books certainly does not mean you'll dream of the answers.]

Yes, I am aware. [she nods.] I haven't been there yet, however. I've.. been here since my arrival.

[Though Fang had fallen asleep herself over books many times - both on Gran Pulse and here in Garden - it was still kind of hilarious to see others do the same. She grabs a random heavy book, pauses before whamming onto the table Ashe is sitting at, then says in the most annoyingly cheerful voice of all time that sounds completely wrong on her: ]

Wakey, wakey!

[Oh God. That voice.. was so obnoxious. If it were a bit deeper, it might remind her of a certain sky pirate. Thankfully for Fang, it didn't.

She awakes with a jerk and a scowl. Ashe is probably the only person ever to actually awake with a scowl.]

Ugh.. You would do well with learning a thing or two of tact.

And you'd do well learnin' that there's no bedtime in a library.

[Okay, maybe she was going a little over the top, but seeing someone wake up with a scowl was quite funny, to be honest. Heh. This girl probably had a stick up her arse even when she was asleep.]

Likely it's not all that comfortable sleeping on a book, anyway, right?

It was an accident. Pardon me.

[She could tell this one would be a nuisance. Gathering the few things on the table that belonged to her, she swiftly stands up and makes her way to the door. She has better things to do than mess with you, Fang.]

[Ronald Weasley is far from quiet as he heads to the back of the library and drops his armful of textbooks onto the desk next to the slumbering fair-haired woman. He drops his rucksack to the ground next to the chair and plops down on a string of cursing-- at least that's quietly done.

But oops! There's someone there; he obviously forgets that he's alone, shoulders hunching as the Librarian sends him a sharp, loud SHHHH!]

Awaking with a jolt, she takes a moment to remember where she is. The library, that's right. She must've fallen asleep while reading..

Looking up to the rather awkward looking boy a few feet away from her, she grimaces.]

Excuse me, sir, do you happen to have the time? [hopefully she hadn't slept long..]

[He looks over at the voice and question, a confused expression on his face. Then he goes to look down at a wrist and ends up making a face himself.]

...guess I left my watch back in my room. Er - sorry.

It's.. no problem. [Sigh. She imagined she slept through the night, though, seeing as it was.. well, light outside now.]

I would not take you for the type to enroll into a military academy.

[ She's been away from Garden for a little while; she missed the library. The leather-bound books smell different from the rolls of parchment back home, in a pleasant way. Now, they feel familiar.

She's cruising through some history titles when she comes upon Ashe, sleeping. Normally she wouldn't disturb the other woman, but someone might need that encyclopaedia--or Ashe might get drool on it.

She bends, very delicately touching Ashe's shoulder with her fingers. ]

Miss?

Ah.. [Ashe stirs, sitting up very slowly and looking to the woman just above her. She.. was pretty confused until she looked down at the table noticing the many books strewn across the table.]

... I fell asleep.. Damn. I've lost time. [Looking to the woman again.] You have my thanks.

[ Elika offers a gentle, sympathetic smile, her hand leaving Ashe's shoulder to settle on the table. It's odd; somehow, something about this woman sounds familiar... ]

It is relaxing in here, isn't it? I can hardly blame you. Are you working on a research project?

[Ashe feels the same way, somehow. Normally, that would make her anxious, but the commonality makes her smile, just a bit.]

Yes, it really is.. Or it would be, rather.

Not quite. Researching, yes, but not for any sort of project. I need to know more about this 'time compression' that keeps coming up.
