He's short and stocky with a ridiculous mop of inky black hair that looks like it hasn't been combed in weeks, but that's far from the strangest thing about him. Protruding from the mop of hair are a pair of orange-gradiented horns for starters, and the skin they protrude from is

[Speaking of useless pink monkies!]

[John was walking through the halls, probably on his way to the music room when he catches sight of the familiar silhouette of a troll. Once he gets close enough to hear him, he totally knows who he is.]

[Who else talks like that, honestly.]

Karkat?

[He jolts slightly at the use of his name, and hates that it sets him on edge, but he manages to turn around slowly and keep the scowl set on his features.]

[...and then the scowl just deepens and he rolls his eyes when he sees who he's talking to.]

Oh, great, you're here.

[thewindything]

[He was right! He grins a bit and finishes approaching him.]

Oh man, it is you! Wow, everyone's starting to just pop up out of no where.

[His expression doesn't even really change, but he shifts his weight from one foot to the other.]

Excuse me while I find myself incapable of containing my childish glee over your presence and the nuance that there are others here. [A beat of silence, and he tries to keep the interest out of his tone.] Who the fuck else is here?

[Walking down that hallway is one (1) slightly older Vriska, her hair pulled back into a braid and over her shoulder is a newly dry cleaned SeeD uniform. When she spots him her eyes narrow.

Then widen.

She lets out a dry laugh.] Well if it isn't our feeeeeeeearless leader~. Pretty far away from home, aren't you?

[The laugh startles him, to say the least. He turns and frowns at her, trying to figure out what was different and why it unsettled him, and finally just glowered.]

What do you want, Vriska.

[There was a lot to pick from.] What, you're not just ecstatic to see me? I'm almost hurt! Leijon sure was.

I'd say at this point seeing any of us still alive is a god thing, but I don't think I'll ever be happy to see you, Serket.

[Duo doesn't even turn around at first, voice dry with sarcasm as he answers back.]

Sorry I can't, gotta go scratch my butt and throw crap around like a good monkey.

[Then it dawns on him and he turns around only to get distracted from the question he wants to ask by the realization that this guy looks an awful lot like Nepata. Thankfully, Duo recovers quickly and the delay is only a minor one.]

Wait, did you say A201? You sure about that? [Because that's his dorm room, which likely means that Mr. Sunshine here is his new roommate. Oh, joy.]

oh my god i didn't realize they were roommates. this is amazing.

[Oh you know Nepeta. That should make this marginally easier, then. He frowns for a while at Duo, then looks to his sheaf of paper.]

A201, says it here. [He offers the paper to Duo.]

Or it would be if I wasn't such a slowpoke anyway. >_<;

[Yup, he'd totally bumped into Nepata just to make it easier for meeting his roommate. Totally. You've got him pinned just right.]

Let me see. [He leans in a bit, glancing at where the paper does, indeed, say A201.] Looks like you're right.

Well in that case, you can just follow me around then. I'll get to A201 eventually.

[He grins and continues on before hopefully much of anything can really be said.]

Name's Duo Maxwell. You could say I'm your roommate, because A201's my room too.

[Oh of course. Everything happens for a reason, Duo, and that reason is always going to deal with the superior Troll race. Didn't you know?]

[Karkat watches him carefully, narrowing his eyes in irritated confusion at his words and ...relatively blase attitude. He slowly moved after him, up until he brought up the roommate situation, when he stopped.]

[If Karkat hadn't spoken she may very well have passed him without noticing. Her head was down, and she was too lost in thought to really pay much attention to her surroundings.

But it was really hard to miss that voice. Really, really hard.

It hasn't been very long since she had been in the Gardens, though she has been in this world significantly longer. Still, she had been told the only other troll here was Vriska, so when she looks his way its in disbelief.]

[Well that's a voice he wasn't expecting to hear... ever again. It takes him a second to shake his head out of the confused and irritated thought process and he pales slightly at the sight of her.]

...wh-- Nepeta? What the fuck are you doing here?

[For a moment she can only stare as well. After so long not seeing another troll, and only finding Vriska but three days ago she had sort of resigned herself to never seeing another troll apart for her again. After all, Vriska had been alone here for an entire sweep.

Her usual greeting would probably have consisted of excited waving, hugging or tacklepouncing but once she gains her bearings her shoulder drop and she just offers him a weak smile]

Um. Same as you I guess. The whole time compurression thing brought me here.

[Oh God Nepeta what have they done to you. Why aren't you excited and bouncing and making cat puns and-- Okay there's a cat pun, at least.]

[He inhales slowly, looks elsewhere for a moment, and then back to her as though expecting her to have disappeared.]

Well, it's... Good to see you, I guess. I hear Vriska's here too. [Just act normal, Karkat. You're still their leader, no matter how badly you fucked up, they're still your subordinates, you still have to lead them and keep your wits about you. Especially in a human-infested place like this. Stick together. Good boy.]

[Oh hey. Here's an instructor and she doesn't quite approve of the attitude. :c The horns don't bother her one bit, but the yelling and such. There are younger kids here, after all!]

Come now! That's no way to behave. I know it can be quite a thing, to suddenly be pulled in, but really now. If you need help that badly all you have to do is ask nicely.

[Ahahaha oh Botan. Sweet, sweet Botan. Karkat turns and slowly raises one eyebrow at her, both because she's so tsk tsk and because she has blue hair, and... just sort of snorts derisively.]

Forgive me for not giving even half a cup of lukewarm shit. [...s-sorry, Botan.]

[Botan has the overwhelming urge to stick her tongue out at him like a child, but no! She's an Instructor and a SeeD to boot! She can talk to him and reason and be an adult!]

The fact that you'd carry it around with you would be more concerning than your attitude...

[Or not. That wasn't exactly a voice of reason, Botan.]

Give your schedule here and I'll help you find your way, but that attitude will get you in tons of trouble if you keep it up. Some instructors won't tolerate it one bit, you know. It's not the best way for you to be on the path to becoming a SeeD.

[He stares her down for a while, eyebrows raised like he's just sort of confused that she's trying. This whole maternal instructor scolding thing is going to take some SERIOUS getting used to.]

[He hands her his paperwork after a while, still watching her warily.]

It's not like I'm in this school because I want to become one.
