[It had been a while since Nepeta had been brought to this world. In all honesty she was not sure she could say how long it had been, something bordering a month if she had to venture a guess. A month full of a lot of time spent in the hospital, recovering from the brutal beating that Gamzee had given her, a month spent trying and failing to come

[Of course, Matt was easily one of those people walking back and forth. He might have walked right on by Nepeta if it hadn't been for how much she stuck out. Of course he had seen odd beings before.

Shadow was a hedgehog after all. And there were others, but this girl, she seemed a bit different in her own way.

Also she looked kind of lost. She must be new. Matt approached her with a polite smile.]

Is there anything I can help you with?

[Nepeta had been a little lost in thought, so she hadn't noticed when Matt approached. When he spoke to her, it so started her that she took an involuntary step away from him and her ears drooped down.

She studied him, a look of uncertainty in her eyes but after a moment spoke]

Um. I'm not really sure where I'm suppose to be going.

[ADKjsl he hadn't meant to startle her. He puts up his hands gently.]

S-Sorry.

Oh. You're new, right?

[Well. He seems okay so far, but hell. Gamzee seemed like the sweetest troll before and look how he ended up. Still, she doesn't really have many options. She nods.]

Yes.

[Even after all this time it still felt a little weird talking to humans face to face. Even more than that, it felt weird to talk to an adult. After all she hailed from a planet populated entirely by children.]

[Nepeta lifts her head and looks at him, a little startled and then gives a sheepish shrug of her shoulders suddenly feeling a bit shy]

Just a bit confused, I just got here.

[It was a little strange. Nepeta had some nice friends, but they were a rarity amongst her race and she was beginning to feel that humans were the opposite of trolls. Generally nice, with a couple mean people here and there]

[she ventured a small smile, tail swishing a little behind her]

If I may ask, fur how long have you been here?

Is people watching your hobby or something?

[Duo had been doing some reconnaissance, just checking the lay of the land since he'd been gone for a bit. Never know what can change when you're not looking after all. So it soon became obvious that she's just kind of standing there. So he walks over to check up on her since she's an unfamiliar face in an, admittedly Garden mostly full of unfamiliar faces.]

Because if that's the case I think you picked a weird place. You'd probably have better luck hanging out in the cafeteria or waiting for night and hitting up the secret area.

[He chatters on, hoping that maybe a friendly face'll pick her up a bit. Sure he can be a heartless killer when he has to be, but he honestly prefers this here aka being friendly and the like.]

[She's a little embarrassed to be caught staring at people the way she is, and a green blush rises to her cheeks. It is true though, she does enjoy just doing some people-watching so she gives a reluctant nod of her head. She's curious about this guy despite her general down mood. All the humans she had seen were either her age, or adults, and this guy seemed to fall somewhere in the middle.]

Not necessarily a hobby, but it is purrty fun.

[Green blush? Kinda weird, but it suits her somehow. He's also pretty sure that she's at least a couple years younger than him. Not that he can really tell for sure since he's pretty sure that this stranger isn't even human. You never know how other species age after all, right?]

Just wait. There's these big dinosaur monsters in the training center too. So the people aren't the only thing worth watching around here.

[He grins, shoving his hands into his pockets casually.]

Though people watching is safer, they don't try to eat you.

Really? I'd like to see them sometime. What's this training center like?

[Nepeta smiled a little. Gigantic monsters she was definitely use to dealing with. Even before this whole mess, however, despite her overt friendliness she had never really interacted with people a lot, and definitely not face to face. It was a strange experience for her, and she really hoped that she could get out of this mood she had been in for a month soon. If she really was stuck in this place, she didn't want people's first impression of her to be such a gloomy one]

[Taking a page from Cid's book, Mae is on her way out to the Quad with a small stack of books so that she can do a little work on her own lesson plans when a single cadet catches her eyes.

Now Mae's used to people looking different. Even on her own world she's been in the company of Qunari, Dwarves, Golems, and Elves after all. There's something a little different about this particular girl, not that it bothers her. Everyone deserves respect no matter what they look like after all.

So heading over to the girl she considers her options:
1. Whats's so interesting?

You're not lost are you? I know Garden can be hard to navigate when you're new. It's the whole circular thing I think.

[Nepeta wanted to make a good impression. As far as she knew, she was the only troll in this place so despite her own feelings she needed to be a good representative of her race.

Then again, she really had no idea how to do that. Human cultural norms still confused her to high heaven, and she knew that by the standards of her own race many would consider her a pretty terrible excuse for a troll so she wasn't really sure what being a 'good' representative would be.

Bah, what did it matter? She should just be herself.]

I am. I just got here and I'm purrty confused about, well, just about everything.

[Mae is blissfully unaware of everything troubling the young troll, though she would have reassured Nepata that being herself is always the best option. Expectations be hanged.]

The first few days can be pretty tricky since there's a lot to adjust to, especially if your world is quite a bit different from this one.

Where are you trying to go? My work isn't so pressing that I can't show you around if you'd like.

Umm! [she pulled some papers she had been given out of one of her coat pockets]

I guess...to the place we sign up fur classes? [her brow furrowed. She had never been to school before, and her education was pretty minimal, only what Equius had taught her] That's what we're suppose to do here, right? Learn?

[Marco's just ambling along when he feels someone watching. Given to occasional bouts of paranoia thanks to being a wanted pirate and all, he glances around to figure out who and why.]

Hey. You okay there?

[Nepeta was surprised by suddenly being addressed. That a stranger would ask how she was doing was a little surprising so she mustered up a cheerful smile and greeted him]

I am very confused! Eheh, I just got here and this place is nothing like my own home so furrankly I have no idea what I'm suppose to be doing.

[Pauses and finds the cat affectations cute.]

Ah all right then, that'd explain it. [Offers a paw handshake.] I'm Marco. Welcome to the Balamb Garden. Did you get a letter from Headmaster Cid?

[She took the hand and shook it, nodding at his question.] My name is Nepeta. It's good to meet you, Marco.

[she took out said letter and course catalog (both of which were slightly crumbled) from inside her coat]

I feel kind of weird accepting all this furrom a purrson I don't know. If...Headmaster Cid, I mean, what's he like? Do you know him?
