Case o6 [Action, Front Gates]

[Ever since classes resumed, Damian'd kept a low profile. He "barely passed" his fighting courses from last quarter, so he figured he should probably step up his game and figure out how to fail-without-actually-failing ( Read more... )

[Minato of course followed the evacuation procedure as calmly as instructed. He was approaching his roommate when he heard his muttering.]

I don't know, maybe some idiot thought to pull the fire alarm as a joke.

If they did, that's slagged. [shakes his head] I hate waiting around like this.

Same. Waiting's fine when you're preparing, but right now there's nothing to do but wait for the faculty to finish their sweep of the building.

Exactly! Fire drills - or false alarms - are boring regardless of the world.

... Though I wasn't looking forward to failing that quiz either.

Well, that'd be better than the other option.

[Has a slightly sometimes pyro accident-prone best friend. Please don't be Ace's fault >>]

What, it being a real fire? Doubt it. No one here's that bad at Home Ec. [His best friend's a klutzilla too! Except, thankfully, best friend also isn't here.]

Right. Although maybe they crashed those metal contraptions a bunch in driving class. [Deadpan forever.]

... You mean cars? If they're crashing ones that can't fly, then I'm afraid to ask how they'd handle Neo-Gotham.

[When the fire alarm had first gone off, Aang had screamed. They certainly didn't have fire alarms in his world. In his shock, he hadn't caught most of the announcement, so he's now a bit confused.]

A drill? For what?

A fire. [blinks, turning to face Aang. Ah, crap - he hadn't figured to run into him outside of costume.] They do it every so often to make sure students and teachers know how to escape in case one happens.

So you mean there's no fire? Isn't this a little...dramatic? [That voice sounds familiar to him, but he's sure he's never seen his face before. Aang looks at him a moment longer than necessary, but mentally shrugs it off for now.]

Probably not. I didn't sense any smoke. [the staring unnerves him and it kinda shows]

... Is there something on my face?

[Just great. Here's Zuko, trudging along with a frown, grateful to be outside because damn is that alarm loud and irritating.]

A little late to have a combat drill if you ask me.

... Fire drills and combat drills aren't the same thing. The faculty's just making sure people know how to evacuate in case a fire happens.

[He's starting to feel like a walking PBS special.]

[This is strange talk to a firebender. Zuko frowns.]

That's smart. But useless for a firebender.

... What's a firebender? [Damian has a sinking feeling he already knows the answer, though.]
