[sidesteps the flying soup and tries to catch Mikuru's hand before the soup splatters everywhere. This may or may not work so well, considering that the soup's now landing in a trashcan where it belongs.]

I wouldn't be offering if it were a burden. [laughs] So relax a little bit, alright? Everything'll be fine.

... Ah, right. I'm Mia Fey. [holds out a hand?] I'm an instructor here at Garden.

[It takes Mikuru a moment to remember what to do with that hand - hey, she's Japanese; she's not used to handshaking.]

I'm Mikuru Asahina. What do you teach?

International Law and Criminal Justice. They're required classes, so I'll most likely be teaching you in the near-future.

[Mikuru nods.] I was trying to warm up on the soup.

I see. How about I carry your lunch for you and we can eat together?

I'd offer to introduce you to some Cadets, but it can wait until after lunch if you'd like.

[bunnypassingby]

I'd really like that.

[turnaboutmentor]

[Mia nods and walks to the end of the line. Lunch never looked so appetizing!] So what kind of world're you from? I'm from Los Angeles; that's a city on Earth.

[bunnypassingby]

[Mikuru follows her, thinking.] In America, right? [It took her a while to remember because by her time the balance of power in California has shifted from LA to some other city.] I'm from Earth as well, from Japan.

[turnaboutmentor]

That's right! I normally don't tell my country because not many people here're from Earth. [goes ahead and puts some salad on a tray; Mikuru's going to have to point to what she wants because Mia's not psychic.]
