Okay, I had never seen many of those Google tricks before. Will have to bookmark for future reference!
And OMG I have to say that I agree so much with the word-of-mouthers article. If someone is really, really insistent that I will like a show, I end up wanting to watch it less. I have a friend who pimps Castle all day every day on her Twitter and I'm so damned sick of hearing about Castle and how great it is and how everyone should watch it that I can't stand the sight of it anymore and have absolutely no desire to watch. Same think happened to me with Moulin Rouge, which I wanted to see before it came it, but got so sick of having it shoved down my throat how OMGAWESOMEYOUMUSTSEETHIS it was that I didn't end up seeing it until last year.
Heh. I'll admit that I've been turned off by quite a few (very good) TV shows that people on my flist or Twitter pimp incessantly. It's not rational or fair, but I can hold a grudge that way. ;)
Ha, I just posted about Season 1 of the Wire, too. Great minds, etc etc. :0D I'm glad you enjoyed it more toward the end of the season, although I wouldn't blame anybody for not liking this show as it's not an easy ride, that's for sure. Honestly, I loved it so much that I can't see how any other season could possibly live up to to it, so I'm putting off watching season 2.
PS I love your sweater, and all the things you make! You're super talented.
Once I get caught up with LJ, I'll have to check out your post! It's not an easy ride, no, but I do appreciate it without really *liking* it much -- which is basically what I expected going in. :)
I will say season two of The Wire is my least favorite season by far. but parts of season three are great, and then season four is my favorite by a mile. I think it's everyone's favorite. so keep going!
I'd go with the timeline wonkiness going on rather than Amy being from 1990 as in 'The Eleventh Hour' Jeff had an internet connection, also a webcam on his laptop. Also the mobile phone The Doctor used to set off the clock reset thingy was definitely more modern than 1990.
