Okay, okay. I'll cry uncle on the issue of backing into parking spaces! To me, it still seems rather fussy and more accident-prone, though that might be because I've never been as good at backing up when hemmed in on both sides. BUT now I can see the merit, and I hadn't considered that many people would find it easier and safer. So, I guess I' ( Read more... )

Do you know if the format for the show through iTunes is mp3 or mp4? I can't play iTunes' music on my non-iPod, but it's possible that a public radio show would be released in regular format... *hopes*
(I used to listen to TIL regularly.)

Yup, the mp3s are also apparently available for one week after airing. You'd want to rename the files, though, as the current ep is simply "364.mp3". ;) And the podcast page has more info.

That guy's story was fascinating. I particularly appreciated that they kept the story fairly neutral without getting bogged down by all the other issues related to the Iraq war.

Favorite episode? I've got a soft spot for "What I Learned from Television". Guess I'm a sucker for the celebs showing up. ;)

I sometimes back into the parking spaces-if I feel like taking the extra care and time.

But as my mom explained to me why she did that in certain places...its easier to get out of a parking lot/deck/etc should something happen where there is a rush to get out-like a fire or something.

Which made sense to me. I dont know if thats why most ppl do it but it seems like a logical reason to me! :)

Though I do agree with to each their own!

I was surprised by how vehement people are! Yeah, I suppose it's a personal preference thing. Then again, I'm seldom in situations where I have to get out of a space as soon as humanly possible. :)

I didn't comment on the last post, but I'm here to support you on your dislike of backward parkers. I refuse to believe that it's easier to back into a space than out of one; just the fact that it's a much narrower target area refutes that notion. Yes, some people drive too fast through parking lots, but that just means we need to address THAT problem, not arbitrarily reverse the entire parking system ( ... )

Thanks -- I was surprised to see so many people insist that it's SOOOOO much easier. Huh? Suppose I can see their point when it comes to accidents and giving more range while coming out of the space, but *I* find it far more difficult. When I back into a space, I immediately get nervous and hyper-cautious about not hitting the cars on either side. Backing out is much easier for me. Yes, it's problematic when my compact car is framed by two huge SUVs... so I just back out slowly.

I LOVE This American Life! I've been ridiculously hooked on their archives for a while now and listen to an episode every day at work. I even bought the season one DVD of their TV show.
