Oooh, *yarn envy*. Really, the sales are the only thing that can soothe the sadness of the LYS closing down. And I don't think I commented on your knitting update, but I love the sock pattern of your wisterious socks, and it looks like they turned out lovely for you. I really want to do the fingerless mitten version myself.

Also, I do love Salon. Use less. Yes, please.

I really like the Pomatomus gloves pattern, though I think I'd get bored of them halfway through. ;)

As for the LYS -- I'm vaguely sad for the owners' sake, but it wasn't that great of a store. While the selection was decent, the staff wasn't especially friendly, and they didn't encourage anyone to stay and knit. There's a store in town that's wildly popular with knitters, and much of that is because they practically beg you to sit 'n knit -- a huge table upstairs with a kitchen and snacks, a friendly staff, and they're open until 9 most nights (including themed night such as massage/manicure and Weight Watchers.) I don't go down there very often because it's a bit of a hike and parking sucks, but once I'm there it's someplace I *want* to be.

Keep watching, hon - I'm fairly sure that the Faux Charles Brandon gets nekkid a time or two. And I'm sure you'll enjoy seeing his all-over tan, which I'm fairly sure was NOT something a 16th century English dude would have had. (Or any English guys, any time, actually. *snicker*)

I'll spare you my patented rant about how bogus the history is, though. Thing that annoys me most is that Michael Hirst brags about how he just made stuff up. What a maroon. He wiped out - among other things - the whole royal line of Scotland! Peh.

All-over tan, huh? ;) I might've missed that one. Must go look for it. I'm just a bit annoyed because I can basically deal with the women mostly just there as an afterthought and/or using sexuality to get ahead. That's how things were back then. But do we REALLY need to see nearly EVERY actress without her shirt on? Gah. It's gone past "We're a racy Showtime series!" to feeling uncomfortably exploitative.

(And YES re: the royal line of Scotland. *sigh*)

I love The Tudors in all its hilariously inaccurate glory. We get to see Jonathan Rhys Meyers naked bum later in season 2 for more than 2 seconds like we got with Charles Brandon in s1. There's a whole scene where you see his butt! Something to look forward to lmao.

I suppose the naked butt will be quite a relief from how I've seen more nipples than ever before in my life. ;) It's a fun show, but I'm definitely not taking it seriously.
