Pain! Frustration! Crackfic!

Eight things about the past twenty-four hours:

1. I've realized that I really, really need to start working on my sleep schedule. Staying up too late several days in a row brings on dreadful insomnia, like today. My goal for the next six weeks of school (only six more weeks!) is to attempt to go to bed at a reasonable hour. I suspect I will be ( Read more... )

insomnia, tv - the office, bsg - meta, tivo, bsg - crack, knitting

Regarding number 5, it's odd that your DVR has been eating eps while my Tivo has started randomly recording things. I found 12, old eps of Robot Chicken on it this morning even though my Season Pass settings say Tivo should only be recording new eps. It recorded both showings off of Adult Swim for the whole week.

Hmm. It used to do that with me for things like The Daily Show. You might want to check the guide listings -- if the guide doesn't specifically say that it's a repeat, then TiVo tends to treat it like a new episode and automatically record.

God, I miss my TiVo. :(

That's probably it. It's just odd that it would just happen this week when Robot Chicken is on almost every day and there haven't been any new eps in almost 4 or more months.

*still has much love for my Tivo*

Hee! I probably could've put tons more crackiness in there, but right now I'm too tired. I vote for YOU to make a crack magazine cover. Knowing you, it'll be HI-larious. :)

Mary's definitely had work done. She's starting to get that Asian-Catface thing around the eyes.

As for Tory, I thing she decided to sleep with Baltar on her own. Baltar has a way of frakking with people's heads and Tory if particularly vulnerable right now, hence the srying.

Her eyes do look quite different. I guess I'm reluctant to believe it because she's been so adamant in the past about aging gracefully.

You've commented on your horrible Comcast DVR in the past, and I sooooooooooo must concur. I positively HATE it so much. I had SO many problems with the first month I had that for a year I got half off of my cable bill and a quarter off of my internet bill.

UGH, I've never had Tivo, but my roadrunner DVR was fabulous and I never had the problems with it that I have with Comcast.

Comcast sucks!!!

God, it's awful. I haven't had any *huge* problems with the DVR -- it's just a pain in the ass. I do need to call Comcast, though, because my bill has suddenly gone way up. It's now $140! Granted, I have one of the higher bandwidth 'net plans and the HD tier, but otherwise I should be getting digital basic.

That's ridiculous!!

You know what else is stupid, the higher cable plan doesn't include some basic free channels (like Soapnet!!). It's just all arranged so ridiculously stupidly.

I HATE COMCAST!! Serious, such a horrible service. And, of course, it's the only cable internet option.

An Alternative to TWoP?

I think Bear McCreary is responsible for a great deal of the BSG mystique. During the all week retrospective on Sci-Fi last week, I managed to catch several episodes in sequence, and the thing that came through loud and clear was the arresting quality of the music (and the cinematographic cutting between sequences, but that's another point).

Thanks for pointing out his blog. I'm going to take a look.

Good way to put it! I've noticed quite a few friends raving about his music, even if they're not huge fans of the show itself.

Y'know, I was watching UB again on my iPod the other night (late-night feeding), and realized that the music was fantastic. I mean, I'd read about Bear's thoughts on that ep, but this listen brought home how practically every scene had a different musical theme going on. Truly an orchestral love poem.

(LJ is hiding posts from me! Why do I keep missing posts? I'm logged in, I swear!)

PS. Whenever I watch the brig!kiss scene and get to the point where Kara wishes him well on his journey, I think of this shot from my icon (and from the memorial wall). Almost the same smile, but with so much more poignancy.
