I think the Celexa's working, because I've been full of joy this month!

1. The Winnebago lives! This afternoon I headed over to Cobb Parkway, where they're filming The Walking Dead all day. I drove past the intersection four or five times, trying to be all cool and non-gawkerish. Finally I decided to just get over my embarrassment and parked my car to join the dozen or so people watching from across the intersection ( Read more... )

Moved from FL to NY in March and I MISS PUBLIX SO MUCH! It really is the best.

Florida to Massachusetts, almost 3 years ago and I still complain. The worst is when I get a craving for a Publix sub ;_; People up here are always baffled by my love for a grocery store. It's good to know I'm not alone.

This is super corny, but shopping really was always a pleasure there.

Publix's subs are divine, and I really like their fried chicken dinners. Yeah, shopping really IS a pleasure there. Everyone's just so darn nice (maybe because it's one of those companies where employees are shareholders), and the stores are bright and clean and well-stocked. And since I'm not a super-couponer or into bargain-hunting, the prices really aren't any more expensive than Kroger; if anything, I spend a bit less at Publix. (Though I'm almost ashamed to admit that I still do the majority of my grocery shopping at Trader Joe's. ;)

How sad, to have to live without Publix! Thank heavens those Florida rapscallions expanded up here in ATL fifteen years ago. ;)

It's always nice to hear of store people who really listen to their customers.

I have a Morton Williams supermarket that carries goods from the UK and other countries - I've been noshing on the cod roe caviar from Sweden that I grew up with. There's a new store near my friend's house called The London Candy Co. that I've been meaning to check out and now that you've reminded me I might just do so today.

Have you read Jo Walton's "Among Others"? It's one of the best fantasies I've read in a long time. I did a short review here.

I'm not really into fantasy as a genre, but maybe I'll check out that book. I've been reading nearly a book a day so far this summer, and I'm sure I'll run out of titles before long. ;)

THat's a very cool photo! How long did you watch for? I'm wondering if this season, they'll move them out of Atlanta and on to other locations like the (in)famous estates. Thank you for sharing the photo :)

What other British foods to Publix have in stock? There are supermarkets here that intermittently stock food from the US, but you tend to need to hunt around. That's one reason I like Aldi; they do a US-specific range of goods every few months, and while I'm not a big fan of Hershey's brand chocolate in general, I end up spending a small fortune on lots of peanut butter cups.
