The Epic Pre-Mockingjay Post.

Yeah, I'm semi-obsessed with the Hunger Games series right now. Less than two days until I get to read it! I was hoping to take Wednesday off, but that won't happen after my illness last week. Plus, Amazon's very disappointing preorder system -- they won't actually ship it until Tuesday -- means that I'm just going to pick it up at Borders on my ( Read more... )

I just received my shipping notice for Mockingjay, and I am almost buzzing with excitement! And I did want to briefly respond to this:

since it seems like all my friends are Team Gale

I am Team Peeta, too! Though I kind of wish we didn't have to divide into teams, but I guess that's fandom, eh? (And to be fair, the books do set us up for it, too.)

Though, man, Finnick. He is just appealing all over the place, isn't he?

I NEED a map! I really hope we get one this time, even if she releases it later or something.

I'm pretty agnostic on the ships in this one, but the suggestion of a "ten years later" epilogue scares me. Learn from JK Rowling, Suzanne Collins! Don't do it!

I want Madge to show up and kick some butt. :-D

OMG TEAM PEETA! Don't let Taragel deceive you! We're not all Team Gale! I mostly have the same issues with Gale that you do: I don't feel like I know him at all and I am hesitant to trust the narrator/author and believe that he is as perfect for Katniss as he is supposed to be.

also Katniss only seems to get warm tingly feelings when she is kissing Peeta, so.That being said, I am holding out little hope that both Peeta and Katniss make it to the end of the book alive. I think the best ending, for me, would involve Katniss sacrificing herself (maybe with the understanding that that means reuniting with her dad and finally being free?), but as perfect as I feel like that would be, I can't see Collins killing her off. But I think it would be the right ending, because how is Katniss going to live her life beyond what she's been through and what I imagine she is going to loose ( ... )

I'm rooting for Peeta too. Gale's just not given enough depth and time in the stories for me to really root for him. He seems like the stereotypical obstacle for the main ship: the hot best friend who has all this "history" with the main protagonist, so even when the majority of the books focus on the protagonist and the new guy (Peeta) building a relationship, we can't for certain say they're endgame because that very-attractive-best-friend-with-history-on-his-side is still in the game, keeping it interesting and angst-filled. Just IMO.

Also, I'm so freaking excited about this book I can't even explain. I too preordered from Amazon, but I decided last week that what the hell, I'm getting the kindle version at midnight because I CANNOT WAIT. Plus, it's only $8, and my hardcopy was only $8 - so it's like I'm spending ~$16 on the book, which is about the price of the normal hardback. (I can find a way to make any illogical decision reasonable if I really want to, lol.)

*Loves Albus Severus, you gotta know Snape is probably stewing in the afterlife about that one :)*
In fact their is a bit of fanfic out their that states Harry named him that knowing that it would have really p*ssed Snape off.
I love a generational story, especially when the main characters end up being on the receiving end of their own childern's shenanigans like Harry probably is doing know with James.

I will be getting my book from the library, as I am a bit strapped for cash right know.
