1. You'd think that after spending my entire life in warm climates (aside from a year in London), I'd be used to summer. I'm not. Hate the heat, especially on typical days like this afternoon with "only" 90 degrees but with 58% humidity. When I ran to Publix earlier, I came back with an itchy scalp and freshly-washed hair soaked with sweat. I ( Read more... )

I don't have much of a (stereotypical) Southern accent, yet everyone I know here has always pronounced ben/bin and pen/pin the same way. I know it's not correct English, but I'm still a bit flummoxed when people say the two should be differentiated. ;)

Heh! Aidan Gillen's accent was pretty impressive compared to Dominic West's, which seemed to range up and down the Eastern seaboard and parts of Ireland at times. Of course Idris Elba put them both to shame.

Were you in west Texas? Because it was humid as hell when I lived in the D/FW area (and still is, according to my family), and Houston is always miserable in summer.

That sweater is gorgeous.

A nice Irish name like that and it was his pronunciation of been that made you question his nationality?
