Swimsuits, sweaters, soccer, zombies, and disappointment.

1. Per the suggestions on last night's post, I dropped by Old Navy and was surprised to find a swimsuit that fits fine, if not perfectly. And if it fits *me*, then that's further proof that ON sizing is screwed up. ;) Even better, I found out at the register that it was 30% off. That's the third time in as many days that I've gotten a surprise ( Read more... )

I know it's hard to design swimsuits to fit a variety of body types, especially if you have, er, certain areas that you'd like to camouflage... in skintight material. But still, you'd think that they'd try a bit harder!

Thank you for the Walking Dead link - there's a tradition of having zombie type schools when making the movies, and it's good to see the Walking Dead team doing something similar. I remember reading an account of an extra on the original Dawn of the Dead, who talked about people arriving with an idea of who they were before they became zombies, and Tom Savini working with them and others to make them not just look like zombies, but move believably like them too. Much more satisfying than the fast zombies of the remake...

If you can make it down as an extra, it's worth doing. I think the extras are often given a token payment and a souvenier from the set; I seem to remember that for either Resident Evil or Dawn of the Dead (I forget which) every extra walked away with a copy of the fake newspaper cover page shown in the film, with the headling "The Dead Walk!" or something similar. Very cool :)

I would've loved to send in my photo and try to be an extra, but the dates they required just didn't work out for me. From what I've heard, the area where they're filming downtown has been completely sealed off from onlookers, which I suppose makes sense because they wouldn't want passersby to accidentally wander through the background. Pity, because I'd love to get a peek -- I'm starting to think this could be a new fandom. ;)
