Of Homemade Detergent and Audrey Kawasaki

Hello, everybody! How is everyone doing?

Last night I made my first batch of homemade laundry detergent. I had to spend a little money to get the initial supplies, but now that I have them, for the next year all I'll have to do is buy a 50-cent bar of Ivory soap to make another 3-gallon batch of detergent ( Read more... )

I is confused. What do you need the six cups for?

And Kawasaki's artwork is gorgeous, isn't it? ^-^ Yay for guilt-free iconage!

[uses first icon, yay!]

Six cups' worth of boiling water--as in the unit of measurement, not a drinking cup ^_^

It is! It got my art muse going like crazy, which happens whenever I see a style I want to try to emmulate and work into my own style.

heheh, I guess I'm just used to it. I doubt "cup" is used as a standard form of measurement in Europe, neh? I, being American, automatically think "unit of measurement" when I see "cup" in a recipe ^_^

How is your day going?

Oooh, I know her work! They like her a lot over at BoingBoing. Gorgeous icons - I'd steal them if I had any spare lj icon space.

Good luck with the job application!

It's so beautiful! And it was incredibly nice of her to give me permission to make icons of her stuff.

Thank you! I'm not holding my breath--I still fear Allan might find some way to keep Brandon in the position--but at least I've done what I can do.

Detergent is a superbly amusing word, I'm of the opinion you should use it in every sentence possible, and a few that are impossible too.

I'm doing well, for what it's worth.

That would be a challenge... but I'm up for it like detergent is up for my dirty knickers!

Ahem.

I'm glad to hear it! What does a Panu do throughout an average day?

Very good! With a bit of practice no gent can deter you from this noble goal!

Um, do you want a detailed overview or is it enough to say I write and drink tea?

o_o I am humbled. I say, well played, good sir! That deserves many Cheers! <--and that is the name of a popular detergent in the States, though it could also be in Finland for all I know ^_^

Yup! I can't believe they actually added a new emoticon to their stock pile o_0 That's why I didn't think to look there first--they've had the same ones up since I joined LJ in 2005!
