Show and Tell

Seems a silly thing to do as much as I use this thing, (or maybe as little would be more precise) but I upgraded to a paid account. Perhaps now I'll be more inspired to journal, or perhaps I'll just enjoy the extra icons and capabilities and say "to heck with it." Only time will tell. ;-)

I've done fairly well on at least one of the resolutions I chronicled here. My writing classes are going well. I'm learning some new things, and having some things I knew before verified. The bad thing about it is most of the "verified" stuff was information nightwolfwriter told me.

Ouch.

Luckily, he's been a good sport and has let many an "I told you so" opportunity slide. He's a good guy that way, but I can tell he's enjoying the heck out of being proved right. ;-)

The exercise thing hasn't gone so well. The family has been passing a stomach bug back and forth for the last 6 weeks or so. It's one of those wishy-washy things that makes a person just sick enough to feel bad without completely disabling them. nightwolfwriter and I haven't missed a lot of work, and the daughter unit hasn't missed a lot of school, but the activity and productivity levels have been down.

One thing that has been good on the writing front, was I joined a little writing group. It puts some accountability on me to produce *something* during the week. Minimum is supposed to be two pages, which isn't unreasonable. (If I get on a roll I can do two pages in an hour.) :-) So far I've made it, although I was abysmally late posting this past week. Sickness will do that to a person. I'm also hoping the group will help me break a bad habit I have, which is getting borderline obsessive about a section and working and re-working it instead of pushing on and getting the entire chapter written *before* editing. I presume they'd like something new in the two pages I submit, rather than the same thing as last week, just tweaked a bit, and I admit, I waste a ton of time that way. *facepalm*

If you've been reading this thing for any amount of time, then you should know about the flooring we had installed last spring, the wallpaper we hung last fall, and the two pieces of furniture we picked up recently. I'm going to give the image capability of this thing a whirl and try my luck at image uploading. Pictures are under the cut.

This is a piece of the dining room wall. The chair rail was there already, but it and the walls were painted off-white. I'm not usually a big flower print kind of person, but this worked well, and it's almost a perfect match for the pattern on my dishes. Threre's also a little bit of the floor showing. ;-)

This is the desk we found and couldn't pass up when we went down to look for nightwolfwriter's table. We took the cover off of it because it gobbled up too much of the available workspace. I have to admit I think the thing looks a little odd with my daughter's computer and modern accessories on it, but it's a nice piece. She especially likes the little compartments towards the back, and the cat likes to sleep in the large space on the left.

This is a detail of the same desk. These are the faux mailboxes on the left side. They are what initially attracted my attention. I might not have stopped to look, otherwise. (We were looking for a table, remember? Family on a mission and all that.) ;-)

And lastly, this is the little vitrine we bought instead of an actual table. It has a double top thing going on. The tag read "tea service vitrine", but as I said in my previous post, I haven't been able to successfully Google it. Anyway, the very top is a tray that can be lifted off, and the doors open for storage. I suppose you could store a tea service in there, but I don't happen to own one. It's kind of pretty the way it is, though. I may not put anything in it.

Thanks for looking!

Cheers,

Wish
