This is great! I love it. The characterization is spot on. These two lines are especially perfect:

Very nicely done indeed. One thing - Is Daisuke really 16 years old... ? I don't know where to look it up right now, but I thought he was twenty-ish.

Thanks! In the manga, when he's watching Claire at the funeral, Daisuke says something about there being a two-year difference between the two of them - I remember it as Claire being older (and he's said to be eightteen), but ... I'll go check. Thank you for pointing that out to me!

16 strikes me as too young, considering his various skills and his position in the special unit. Of course, anime and video game characters are often unrealistically young, so who knows.

Not like it really matters - It's a fun story, in any case. :)

Actually, it turns out, I'm an idiot. The line in the manga actually runs (something closely resembling):

[talking about Claire]"Nineteen years old ... two years younger than me, but still too young to be a Don."

(I blame my memory getting mucky on that 'but', I think.)

After some fiddling, the ficlet now says that Daisuke was partnered with J at the age of sixteen, which may be faulty, too - might I bother you some more and inquire if you have any ideas in that direction?
