Even Yuuko had to run errands on occasion, which is exactly why she was walking through the town. It was a simple run for a few groceries, and maybe there would be some place that sold some really good alcohol... She was in no hurry to return to the shop, as she trusted Maru and Moro to look after it.
Barbas was angry now. So many attacks so far and not one single thing to show for it. So many witches in this town and not one kill. Time was running out. There had to be someone in this town he could kill. They couldn't all have someone to save them, right?
That's when he spotted her. That one had a lot of power. He could sense it. She'd do just fine.
Yuuko had continued her casual stroll until a sudden sense of dread hit her. Her walking slowed down, and eventually stopped, craning her head over her shoulder to see if the source of this feeling was around. When she spotted nothing, she frowned. "Who's there?" she called.
Barbas watched her for a moment before making his presence known. "Perhaps you could help me?"
There it was.
"Oh?" she inquired, softening her frown into a simple serious look. "Depends. What would you need help with?"
"Tell me," Barbas said, moving closer to her. Creepy, really. "What is your greatest fear?"
Yuuko had seen too many things to be intimidated by his approaching. Instead, her lips curved into a smirk, letting out a short chuckle. "Do you honestly think I'd be that much of a fool to answer that?"
"Of course not," Barbas said with a smirk of his own. "But I do have ways of finding out."
He took hold of her arm and waved his free hand in front of her face in an attempt to search for her greatest fear. Only nothing at all happened. "What is this? Everyone has a fear."
He attempted to read her again, growing frustrated when he couldn't sense fear.
"Everyone, you say?" Yuuko stood still, and did not pull back her arm-- not just yet, not unless he was about to do more than he was now. "Humans fear what they do not know. They fear because they cannot understand it. There is nothing in any universe I'm not willing to understand and accept. Allowing such an emotion to get in my way would be more troublesome than it is worth."
Barbas's frustration lead him to push her away. He didn't need to listen to this pyscho babble much longer. "No fear...I will go find someone more powerful than you. One with a lot to fear."
Well, thank goodness for that; Yuuko wasn't sure how much longer she wanted to stay in the presence of this being. "You speak nonsense," she laughed. By the way he was acting, Yuuko could tell he could easily become ill-tempered. "I certainly hope you are not so determined to follow through with that."
Barbas glared at her. "I'll kill thirteen witches before midnight. When I do, I'll be at my full power and I'll be back for you."
Just like that, he was gone in search of his next prey.
Yuuko watched him go, not allowing her aura of confidence to drop until she was completely sure he was gone.
She was worried, of course-- such a thing being on the loose with the intentions of killing was nothing to take lightly. Even then, Yuuko was not going to allow herself to be any more involved than she needed to be. If he actually did manage to kill, then maybe she would do something; but, at the same time, she knew that with all the capabilities the people of Fandom had, she wouldn't have to.
And they would have to repay her, if she did.
Yuuko turned, going down the same path she was before that encounter. There had damn well better be some really good liquor on sale somewhere.
