Okay, I might be a little drunk right now. Or high. Or both.

If you have never sung Handel's Messiah, full chorus, chamber orchestra, and with awesome soloists, I RECOMMEND YOU DO SO. Irreligious as I am, "Worthy is the Lamb That Was Slain" still had me, uh, quite emotional by the end. And for once, I thought the standing ovation was fully justified ( Read more... )

Rory-as-a-dude-from-the-1960s is kinda hot. I'm just sayin'

Kinda? How about Totally!

Every day I want Arthur Darvill more and more. Though it may really have something to do with finding out he has a cat named Michael Palin and there are pics and video of him and cat on the web.

Hee hee! I did not know this about Arthur Darvill. The thing that got me about him was his playing that Christmas song while singing along with Matt Smith & Karen Gillan. These people are awesome.

Happiness is here to stay! *locks it in!* I have sung the full Messiah five times - and have performed the soprano arias once, long ago; dude, is there ANYTHING as pretty as He Shall Feed His Flock? I think not! - and every time, I am moved to tears. The only thing I used to love performing more was Mozart's Requiem. Go you! :D

This image makes me unreasonably happy. How come there's never been a Des/Aces duet in my presence?

There was kinda singing geeks! I distinctly remember video from one Lakefest of the end of "Down doobey down" or whatever that song is called. Only I'm not sure Des was there, I think it was Eli and me and...Barkley?

Trust the happy! It doesn't matter if it goes. If it didn't go it would just be normal. Love the hell out of it and save the memories of it for when you need them.

Trust me, I've had to learn this the hard way as someone whose brainpan is regularly cracked by the weather. Live the happy while you got it.

And heck, man, choir singing is one of the purest kinds of happy there is.

I know. I know! But it's being sustained a lot longer than I've become accustomed to (in the last few months), and...yeah. I should just shut up and be happy.

Oh, man. When it all comes together, when the choir is in tune with each other and with the director and accompanist(s), it is glorious.

Messiah is awesome, yes. Last time I sang it was a Come-and-Sing where we rehearsed all day and sang at night, and it was a bit rough-and-ready but it still just... yeah.

Yeah. Yeah, Handel is pretty much awesome. I didn't make it to the place where Messiah was first performed when I was in Dublin; I definitely need to do that next time I'm there.

Oh yes to the singing. Although I really am not a singer, the sound of some of that music is enough to make me try.

Rory really is wonderful, and doing an amazing job building so many layers into those moments. They're all making me hugely happy. As for the story....we have indeed learned to wait and see what Moffat is up to. :::nods:::

Happy is frelling hard work and never lasts as long as we'd like. But every time we have some happiness it sustains us longer and longer through all the other dren. Or so I hope.

PS. Methinks that River Song will just keep breaking our hearts.

Sometimes, you really can't hold back when it comes to this music. You just have to let 'er rip. :)

I know! I really, really enjoy Rory more and more each episode he's in. Go, Arthur Darvill! (And yes, River; she's another one I'm enjoying the more we see her, I think.) And yes, I'm looking forward to a non-arc episode. I'm terrible with arcs--I think it's my lack of ability with plot.

But every time we have some happiness it sustains us longer and longer through all the other dren. Or so I hope.

I'd like that. I'll let you know in a few decades if I find out it's true? ;)

Yes please do let me know how you feel about that in the future. Er...am oldish now myself so feel that somehow it's a theory that's working for me for the most part. ;)

I really love this Who crew so much, and it's not that I didn't love the other ones, but there's something about this bunch that just works so well.
