Thinking when it came to matters of the heart had always been dangerous territory for Grigg Harris. It made him want to rush and forget about thinking. Then again it also made him want to wait and make a grand statement.
In the end, he just walked, following his footsteps and forgetting about his head versus his heart. Picking up a flower from beside the path, he found Eden before he had a chance to stop himself.
Smiling, he held out the flower. "Hi."

Eden smiled, a touch surprised as she reached up to take the offered flower, the smile widening as she held it toward herself. "Thanks." It was such a pretty little gesture, but that was Grigg, so sweet he made her shy. That sort of kindness, for lack of a better word, had been so absent from her days, she was never quite sure what to do with it except want more.
"Sit with me a while?"

It did slow him down a bit to have to stop and sit next to Eden rather than just standing there and asking. If he was standing then he could bolt after any rejection, but she had asked nicely and he could say no. Sitting down on the grass, he bent his knees so that he could rest his elbows on them.
"Eden, I've been thinking and there's something I want to ask you."
