This is an entry in which I discuss slash pairings and such. Since I know that some on my flist don't like slash, I've put it behind the tag. But if you don't mind slash, you're welcome to read and comment, your input will be highly valued.

I haven't been on-line all weekend, so just reading this. Hm, Jack does seem to get around, I can't say I have every pictured Jack with Mycroft, but if that's where the story took you - OK. It kind of sounds like stress relief/comfort sex going on (the beginning of Ianto and Jack's relationship in TW). It will be interesting to see where this will take the story line.

Well, I certainly haven't planned it.But Jack is nothing if not generous when it comes to spreading his favours, isn't he? *g*

Actually, he's like his Dr. Who self in canon, sans the immortality: flirty, adventurous, ruthless if he has to be, but very loyal. And yes, it's definitely stress relief. As he and Anthea will later explain to Ianto: "Mycroft Holmes is one of the few men who keep the country running. It's our job to keep him alive and sane, by any means necessary." Chapter 5 will relieve what Anthea's part is in that - actually, much harder and more important than Jack's - but they are definitely the ones without whom Mycroft couldn't keep going.

Someone with Mycroft's power and responsibilities would need help to keep sane. I'm glad you have a small group of people looking out for him.

Yeah, somebody needs to balance out Sherlock's destructive influence in his life. *g* (Kidding!)

But seriously, I can't imagine Mycroft in wedded bliss, either with a wife or with a male partner. He's every bit as broken as Sherlock is, in his own way, I think, so his needs would be very different from those of your average Joe.

That sounds like a very interesting pairing! It certainly makes sense for it not to be a love, settling down together sort of pairing - as neither of them would seem to be very good at that.

Oh, I quite agree. At first sight, it may seem that Jack's only servicing Mycroft, but I have the feeling that there's more behind his actions... I'm just not sure what.

Since I don't want to climb onto the Janto bandwaggon with "Iceman" again, but I wanted Jack to be part of this 'verse, I think it was almost inevitable that he'd end up with Mycroft. He used to have a thing for the Doctor, after all, which means that he's attracted to powerful men; OTOH, he's sexually versatile like nobody else, so if anyone can make Mycroft submit, it would be him.

At the same time Mycroft is his boss, of course, and very much holds his life in his hands, so this is some sort of reverse situation to Janto. I'm not sure where to go with it, but fortunately, the characters usually decide for themselves. *g*

It is always best when the characters decide for themselves, isn't it? :)

It usually works best, yes. Unless they decide to steer the story in a completely different direction than originally planned. Which happens all the time, I'm afraid.

I know nothing of the universes in which you're writing, but what you describe sound like intriguing developments. Leave it to you to make a mere description of something about which I am ignorant so engaging! Good luck as you head down this rabbit hole!
