Remember my post a couple of weeks ago? Well, after having surfed the Net like crazy for hours each day - and failing - I actually found the saved story on my HD. Go figure. I didn't remember that it was part of a series, and skipped it each time. Ah, well ( Read more... )

I find old Trek classics are often a bit of a disappointment. The style is too flat for my taste.

Not to mention hurried and lacking the necessary detail - except when it comes to the nasty parts. That's why relatively few people like my Star Trek fics - they have all this background and personal relationship stuff and world-builidng; I guess most people find them boring.

I love Trek world-building. The Vulcan world-building is the highlight of Reboot fanfic for me.

I can't comment that - I don't read Reboot fanfic. I didn't like the movie very much, and I positively hated that they blew up Vulcan in the end. I hate it when they mess around with the classics.

*hugs* It is so sad when stories turn out to be less good than you remember! But it is good when they do turn out to be good or better than you remember.
(sadly the same applies to book, tv and everything... I suppose it is part of life) :S

True. Fortunately, there are all-time favourites that withstand the erosion of time, fortunately. They are rare, but there are some, in every fandom.
