How frustrating about the cleaning lady - she could just have said that she was sorry but she couldn't keep coming and that would have been all that was required. It would still have been frustrating, but less rude.

She must have decided the job was too big. But honestly, all she had to say was that she didn't like climbing ladders or moving furniture, and I'm sure you would all have just moved on with your respective lives.
