Everyone, if I may have your attention -

[She sighs slightly. This is probably better off as a voiced warning, though there's a touch of ... something in her voice. As if she's trying to keep it steady. Her eyes are closed, as she speaks.]

[Voice]... If I may have your attention, everyone. As of yet, we still are unaware of what to ( Read more... )

[Aside from the costume and the occasional whisper in the dark, Nephry is largely untouched by this whole fiasco. As she passes by and spots Raine standing, looking like something caught her mid-thought and ran off...well.]

Raine? Is everything all right?

[Give her a moment, Nephry, she just needs to shake her head slightly and blink a few times.]

Hm? Ah -- I'm fine. ... Nephry? [That's not an outfit one would expect to see the woman in, but of course, there have been many odd costume changes.] Have you been all right?

Yes. Better than most, I believe.

[That's not an outfit one would expect on Raine, either. ...Except somehow it's very fitting]

You seem distracted. Am I disturbing you?

No, not at all. [...] There's just been... a lot of things to think about, lately.

[April's costume is a clown outfit. It started out looking kind of cute. It might be getting scarier-looking.]

Raine? Dead animals?

... That's right. The reasoning for their deaths are still unknown - aside from the killing wound, the carcasses were simply... left to be found.

That almost sounds like cult activity. But there's nothing like that around here, right?

In the village itself? Not that I'm aware of. Though with the way things are going, the reason behind it will likely show up at some point.

This is a farce comedy. It has more to do with the Celtics than the actual holiday of Halloween.

In what way would that be?

The Celtics believed that the sun went through periods of life, death and rebirth. The period of death occurred in October and it was called the Samhain, a form of New Years. In October the land of living and the dead would cross over and spirits would visit, as a part of the sun's death. Both evil and good. The peak of the cross over would come on the last day of October and Halloween was a ritualistic festival to ward off the spirits from causing chaos and harm.

That is why this is a farce. The sun no longer appears and animals are mysteriously dying. It is almost exactly as the Celtics depicted the time of this month in their stories.

... The New Year.

This time of year marks the beginning of the fourth cycle year. I wonder if that's a coincidence as well.

[Whenever Raine gets the courage to finally come inside this evening, Caesar will... probably be sleeping in his room in that ridiculous dress. He doesn't seem particularly bothered by what happened the day before, but then again, maybe it's because he's just too tired to care.

Of course, if his attitude this morning when he returned was anything to go by, one should take caution in coming to check on him this evening. He might still be feeling snappy.]

[Eventually she makes it inside. Eventually. Because it would be hypocritical to warn and then not get inside a building before the mist really gets bad. At least for this night, anyway.

She's more than a little shaken when she does, so it's still some time yet before she's able to get in there and check on Caesar, and make sure he's still home, at least.]

[The door to his room is shut, like it often is, but maybe he expected to be intruded upon sooner or later anyway. He knew that as much as he complained, that probably wasn't going to stop at least one person from coming in to make sure he was still around.

...but that won't stop him from continuing his sleep, no matter how late it is when she gets back. Probably not sleeping heavily, but sleeping nonetheless.]

[Eventually there will be a soft knocking at his door. Which probably would be useless if Caesar were sleeping heavily.]

They started flying away from the village three days ago. There are hardly any left around right now.

My pet owl is still at home. Should I be keeping her inside?

I think that would be for the best.
