It's always difficult to comment on middle chapters in a WiP, especially one which is so clearly transitional as this one, but I have to say I'm quite pleased at how well you pulled off that transitionality, given the way in which you were unsure of your capacity to do so. This looks to the future and to the past very well, while given a moment in the present which is (insofar as I can tell not having read the books) in-character and emotionally real.
