i dont mean any offense by this. honest question. why does easter move around? isnt it a specific date like xmas? always wondered about that one.

I believe it probably has something to do with aligning it with Passover, which moves around b/c the Jewish calendar is lunar. Of course, Easter doesn't exactly align with Passover, so I'm not entirely sure. The formula to calculate the date of Easter is reall complex. O_o I don't know it off the top of my head.

well if fat tuesday is always a tuesday, and ash wednesday is always a wednesday, then the dates will change, won't they?

Oh, duh. Actually, I think it's becasue we want Good Friday + Easter always to be Friday and Sunday, and then Ash Wednesday and Shrove Tuesday follow backwards, 40 days earlier. But yeah. Thanks. :)

Yup, "The rule is that Easter is the first Sunday after the first ecclesiastical full moon that occurs on or after March 21." (That website makes my brain hurt.)
